OT What is on the back of this Boat

I snapped this picture of a boat the other day. I am trying to figure out what the two vertical pieces on either side of the motor are for. They seem very well constructed and appeared to have a cable and pulley system. There were also several holes that may be used to set a position of something. They may be for skiers but I don't think so as they are taller than those usually are (plus they are at the back of the boat instead of midship)

I'm not sure what they are called, but when a bass fisherman gets to where he wants to fish he pushes a button and they extend to the bottom and hold the boat in place.

that thought did cross my mind an I can totally buy that. It just seemed that they would be starting a bit high on the transom.

Thanks

There's a number of names--power pole anchor, shallow water anchor, etc., but you're correct on the basics. Those of us with MUCH less of a budget have to make do with a couple sections of water pipe and a some rope!

Some call them "Power Poles" some call the "Cajun anchors"
It is made to anchor a boat in shallow water.

They make several types for different applications and cost.

Some the pole goes straight down and some swing out. Some move under power and some moved by hand power.
You can get them as cheap as a rope tied to the end of a pole that you throw out.

They are for moving big round bales if you get a lot of rain when you bale on low ground.
