WITH THE 4 BOLTS AND ACTIVATION LEVER REMOVED THE PTO UNITE IS NOT FREE. IS THERE SOMETHING WITHIN THE UNITE THAT HAS TO BE REMOVED OR DISCONNECTED ? THANKS!

is it planetary or clutch type? removal depends on type. On clutch type, "remove the 2 cap screws which attach the 2 halves of the rear unit together and separate the halves. Remove the 2 bearing retaining screws and withdraw the input shaft and bearing." The remainder is 'obvious.' According to the IT manual.

It's the planetary type with a 2.5" spacer between the transmission. Both seams don't want to separate. Is it rust or something else ?

Removal of the planetary Type is much more complicated. I suggest obtaining a PTO or IT service manual, since adjustment after renewal is critical. Good Luck1

You do not have to disassemble the PTO units to remove them from the rear frame. Either style should slide out when the four long bolts are removed. There is a seal ring around the part that slides into the rear frame that can become hardened and can make them difficult to remove.
