Gilmore Museum Tractor Show

This weekend is the annual tractor show at the Gilmore Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan. You will likely never see any advertisement about this museum but it is considered one of the top five automobile museums in the country. I have been to tractor shows from California to New York and from Canada to Florida but this one always stands out as one of the finest. The Gilmore is about twenty miles north east of Kalamazoo and is in the country with rolling hills, ninety acres of manicured lawns, white fences and will remind you of a country club setting. The main building is a modern, air condition, building that houses many of their famous automobile displays but the satellite dealership buildings are equally impressive as are their beautifully restored barns. Once each year they allow the Kalamazoo Tractor Club to have their tractor show on their grounds. It is an honor and a privilege to be able to participate in this event. Even if you do not like cars and tractors you will be impressed with the quality of the facility and of the restorations. It is like a time machine and it will take you back to your childhood and while you are reminiscing you can have a malt at the 50's diner. A lot of people are going to a lot of work and expense for others to enjoy. Come out and join us this weekend and treat the family to a great experience. My wife and I will be there and would love to meet you kind folks so be sure to introduce yourselfs. Tom

I'll second how great a show it is and how great the museum is. I've been to two shows there. One where the Great Lakes Oliver Collectors had their show there and when the National Oliver Summer show was there. I'm not going to be able to make it,but I encourage everybody to go. Have fun.

I'll second rrlund. If you show up on a weekday, you may be able to spend the day almost unencumbered by other viewers. Plan on taking all day if you want to view everything. Astounding display of automotive specimens.

I too agree. I have been going there twice or more a year for at least 15 years and have never left there with out being very impressed. It has never been crowded to point I didn't want to be there. it is always spotless clean. Easy, close parking. The old timber frame buildings are very impressive. The collection includes a wide range of cars and is changed out from time to time. I have always gone when there is a tractor, motorcycle or car show so I can get to see more that just the museum. The dinner car is there for food and normally they have some other venders in sell dogs and burgers. The last few time I was there I noticed they are getting young kids in there helping out too so they are looking to the future.

Agree with all said so far. I was there for an Allis show about 10 years ago, super nice place and was treated like a king by the organizers. Very well worth the trip.

A great place to visit. In fact it is a lot better than the Henry Ford Museum has become. I will go again but never to the Ford Museum.

Went there a couple years ago expecting a run of the mill small tractor show. I was wrong. Spent the whole day there and that wasn't enough.

Gilmore is a wonderful museum. Love going there when I visit family on Fine Lake and in Paw Paw. I see photos in car magazines all the time that were taken from Gilmore. Would love to make it up there for the tractor show, but just too far away from home.

I have my olivers loaded and camper ready to go Thursday night and will be there till Saturday night or Sunday. Maybe I will see you there Jack.
