yes, it goes with the tractor and makes it original looking. a muffler on those tractors looks totally out of place.

It is all very well until you have been on it for 2 hours and wonder why he is burned out from the noise.

looks good, the question i have is how much and how long do you use the tractor, a parade or such it will be fine, longer and you may get tired or the noise, i never tired of exhaust noise i listened to the whine and roar of diesel trucks with straight exhaust for 30 years, now i cant hear but about 1/3 of what i should it, fired me for the trucks i cant pass the hearing test for my medical part of the cdl now , also as we age lol i spent the weekend modifying one of my tractors, i like things the way they were new, but severe back problems, [ 3 crushed discs and 1 now missing completely followed by smashed bone in that area]means no more steel pan seats, having heat problems on 100 degree days, 100 degree days 7,000 ft up in the rockies? yep! we do now...20 years ago 88 was a hot day, means a upholstered suspension seat, and canopy to block some of the sun are now mandatory

j.wondergem,

I thought, "what block?"... then I looked and sure enough does look like a block under the seat.

What's showing there, is actually a steel wheel behind the tractor. The wheel is on a stand in front of the corn crib for yard-art. (grin)

ericlb,

He did keep the muffler too... so if he's going to do something that takes a long time, (like mowing waterways) he can put it back on.

I only popped out to snap a quick picture while it was idling as he opened the shed door - but yes, he said it's definitely got a bark to it.

Ha-ha... we're old - nobody looks sweet 'round here anymore.

Wait, I think I have the right to remain silent... so nothing I say can be used against me???

rustred,

We both really like the looks of it. I guess only time will tell if he keeps it on there... or if the elbow becomes a display in my rust garden.

I have one on my 1935 F-20 too. I always thought they looked cool! But between the noise and the exhaust blowing directly in your face I can see why I have never found an original tractor with one still attached!! Glad you decided to put it back on!!!

I wonder how much land that tractor has been over in its life. Looks real nice, but just like mine I'm sure it's more fun to think about using them than it is to run one all day. Lol When it was new I'm sure they thought they really had something.

jon f.,

It was originally my husband's grandpa's tractor... so it's been in the family for quite some time. She covered a lot of acres back in her day, as it was grandpa's main tractor and he and 3 of his sons all farmed and kind of worked together.

My husband and I have both said the same thing after a plow day, "Sure is fun for awhile... but wouldn't want to HAVE to do it all day long." :)
