sheet metal on *N ford tractor

Does any body know where you can buy replacement parts for the hood to be cut out and welded in. I have a hood that the right front bead part needs replaced. Thank you for your time.

I don't know of any new pieces to buy.
I have a spare hood that I cut patches out of.
If I can cut you a piece that will help let me know.
Might be difficult to find the exact spot you need if
your rust is on the rounded front corners but usually
the rust is along the edge above the dog legs.

Probably be cheaper to buy an old tractor with a good hood. There's always some parts tractors on craigslist.

Big thing maybe where you are. I have both a hood from a 8N and a 9N but I am in Missouri

The rusted out place is on the right front of the hood along the lower edge were the two beads are. It would need to be cut back about 18" from where the front is rounded to about 2" pass the rounded to the center line of the hood front. It would needed to be cut above the top bead and include both beads. I thank you for your time.

The way they are made makes them prone to rust out . The hood is wrapped around the frame and spot welded in place . The hoods are usually good or bad with few exceptions , so not many people would cut up a good hood to fix a bad one . The replacement industry sells whole hoods but no parts .

Looks like a man could drill out the spot welds , sand blast to clean metal , and lay fiberglass strips from the back side very easily , then rebolt to the frame .

I am getting closer to the hood repair stage and will be going this route maybe . I plan to fill the void between the frame and hood with fiberglass to keep moisture and dirt out for good .

There is a supplier that bought the rights from Ford to recreate Ford tin. http://nnalert/. They are wicked pricey tho. Yet if you want new.............

That's the spot where they all seem to rust out Leroy.
Unfortunately that spot is already gone on my parts hood.

Ken, this hood was good on one side and destroyed on the
other, so no reason not to cut it up and use it for parts.
Otherwise I agree, why cut up a good one to fix a bad one?

I am wrapping up all of my Ns and keeping one totally rebuilt 8n . I have a pile of hoods that like yours have some damage . Not much use for a damaged hood , but I recon I will plasma cut the good parts and sell pieces that can economicly be shipped via USPS . I will probably action them on eBay starting at .99 cents each just to see what the market bears .( this fall after I get all of mine fixed )
