You mentioned my 2007 GMC brake code could be a phanton code caused by a grounding
issue.

Today, I noticed oxidation on my battery holder. Is the grounding strap you mentioned
close to the battery?

Plan to remove battery and stop the iron worms from doing more damage.
Thanks geo.

Think if you lay on the ground (or turn it over with a teramite) under the driver's door and look up and forward at the cab mount that you'll see a maybe 8-10 inch ground strap. Don't know what your trying to fix on what but those straps used to cause several problems.

gab,
I see a strap coming form the back of engine connecting to cab near mastercylinder.

I'm slim enough, I can jack the truck up, use jack stands and use creaper. Thanks

Still working on the idea of making a cordless creaper. Got any plans? Want to use 18v dewalt batteries. BTW, must be cheap and recycled parts.
thanks,
geo

The ground wires you are looking for are directly under the driver's side of the cab, bolted to the chassis. They are right by the cab mount, you have to get on the ground and look up.

Thank you.

I removed battery and discovered why GMC uses AGM sealed battery. It appears acid leaked from vent is my cheap flooded excide, went down the front and got to metal battery holder. I removed battery, cleaned it up, rustolum.

For what's it worth. GM dealer wanted $165 to replace OEM battery, less than 5 years old. My $45 excide is about the same age. I usually desulfate battery 3 or 4 times a year. Passed conductivity test when last serviced at dealer. Need to figure out how to keep the iron worms away from battery holder.

Many thanks. Will keep an eye on brake message. It gets flashed across the dash and listen for the bells to go off first.
