Over 80 inches wide should have the extra lights for the 3 clearance lights in the center as required by law.

Yes should be 3 in the center and possibly outer corner lights although they may be made into the tail lights not certain the exact wording of the law

if you look at the secondary pics to the left side of the main pic on the over 80 in. yu'll see it includes a cple of clearace lights as well the cheaper kit doesn't have them
up here in Canada that kit at the local cheap place Canadian Tire store is about 50 bucks for 2 lights and 15' wiring harness and goes up from that
I've also seen kits at the flea markets for less but not by much and it's a crap shoot if they have em when you want em

Already have 3 center lights. So back to original ? what's the difference between the set of under and over 80 inch lights sold on amazon besides $7? They both look the same. geo.

Is this what you are talking about:
Passenger side light is 6-function: stop, turn, tail, rear reflex, side marker, and side reflex. Driver side light also includes license illuminator. They just looked the same.

If so, I will admit I didn't catch that. Placing my order for over 80. Thanks. geo

Those lights are lousy and you will likely have to replace them yearly. How about relocating your current light boxes to the back side of the ramps right above the ramp leg? Those are much better lights than the ones your looking at. Just make sure you run a ground wire because they won't ground reliably through the ramps. That way you can even keep your current legal clearance lights.

Does size really matter? will 4 inch ones work? Says for over 80 inch. If they work, this will be an easy fix. Now, remember guys I'm talking about the size of lights, not referring of horses. Thanks. geo
4 inch over 80

Those will work, but switch them side to side so the side markers are towards the middle. Red side lights that far up on the trailer would add another layer of illegal to what you already have. Did you see my last suggestion below? Wouod be a better solution than this. These lights won't last 2 years in your road salt.

Good to know, I'll buy two sets as cheap as they are. Don't understand having side markers towards the middle. Ad says there is a light for the right and the other with plate light on the left.

Are you in charge here?
Am I being charged for each post?
When they put me in a cooler after I'm dead then I'll chill.
I've learned something here today by asking all these questions. I've got all the info I need. Ordering off ebay.

So I guess any more post will you direct to the cooler?

That is correct, but then you will have red lights on the side which is bad news. If you switch them side to side that will put the clearance lights towards the inside. You will need to add rear clearance lights too, either one at 45? like yours now or 2, one towards the side amd one towards the rear. You could just turn them upside down and put your plate on top as well I suppose.

Sealed led hardwired in is the way to go, I'm a mechanic for a fleet of over 40 commercial trucks, I knows lights and problems!

I'm done trying to help this guy, he is going to do what he's going to do and if you try to help your wasting your time.

But do you understand people following you at night just HATE thos LED lights, very hard on the eyes of somebody following.

I do agree some trailers with the 7 or more full-size 4 inch lights on back are a bit much. But the small clearance lights with just one or two led with 2 of the 4 inch lights never bothered me, unless following closer than you should anyhow!

Since you're looking at submersible trailer lights, I have to assume you're putting them on a boat trailer. Take a close look at each and you'll see that one has screws in the lens and the other does not. You don't want the version with screws on your boat trailer, because they'll leak and fail.

The version WITHOUT screws APPEARS to be a real submersible lamp, although it's hard to tell from the pictures. The ones you want are made like diving bells: open at the bottom. They are welded together so they can't leak; if you need to change a bulb you go in through the bottom. The description says these are "bell jar", so I guess they're the good ones.

So why are the presumably better lamps cheaper? Beats me.

Hi John,

Come to think of it, I guess ANY lamp can be "submersible". Of course once you submerse them, they may never work again!

My boat trailer has submersible lights.
Water can get into the red lens area and drains out the hole in the bottom.
There is a separate compartment inside that has a clear lens over the bulb.
This cover is water tight by use of a rubber gasket.
Water gets inside the housing but never gets to the bulb.

The freight line I drove for took all LED lights off replaced them with the old bulbs. Owner followed some of use drivers coming in at night in a snow storm and the trailers with LEDs you couldn't see light with snow build up. The trailers with the old style bulbs would give off enough heat to melt off enough snow so you can see lights.
