Well, mystery solved all (link to old topic below). Took my 12V battery in to the local battery store (yes, we have an actual battery specialist nearby!) and he threw it on the load tester and the battery was bad.
So I got a pretty decent replacement from him, a heavy duty class 24 and went on my merry way. Made sure to clean the crap out of the battery cable contacts before I put the new one in, including where the wires attach to the starter saddle piece.
She fired up within 3 seconds of pulling the starter tonight after not having been run for 6 months. Got the plow hooked on and moved (though took probably 10 minutes, so much for "quick hitch", haha). Motor purrs like a kitten!
