Hello again friends,
How to file end gap. I do not have any type of power tools for this job. Can I clamp a protected ring in a vice and file one side. I also thought of clamping a dermal with a thin flat disc in a vice and gently file the ring. Any input? Thanks ahead of time. I have received a lot of help from you folks. Smokey

smokey37,Ring end gap should be .012 - .017 new rings .035 limit. Are you using over sized rings or something. The beat way for you to file end ring gaps with what you have would be clamp a small good bas -tard file in the vice.Hold the ring square to the file, squeeze both ends to the file and stroke taking a little off each stroke and keeping square. It doesn?t take much to remove a good amount.Check ring end gap 1/4 way down cylinder and square in the bore.Hint slide the ring down the bore with a piston with out rings on it up side down so keep the ring square in the bore.
