GMC brakes?

Going to take 2007 GMC 6 cylinder ABS front brakes work truck in for service next Tuesday. Twice now the service brake light came on and in a few seconds goes out.

First time this happened, I wasn't moving, just started engine. Don't recall if I had even touched the brake peddle to put it in gear.

Second time about a week later I was in town and came down hard on the brakes, red light changed and it was a last minute decision to stop. The second time I heard bells go off and the service light come on. Brakes worked fine. Stopped me like nothing was wrong with brakes, thank God

Opinions, what caused the light to come on? Brake peddle solid, 85K miles. Brake fluid is full. No leaks around master cylinder or any other place. Never added brake fluid.

Be interesting to see what dealer thinks. What do you think? See who gets it right. I have no clue.

I too will hop on the wheel sensor/wheel bearing. I had to do both of my bearings in my 05 by 70k, and my wife's 05 got both around 100k.

Usually the ABS indicator lights up on the dash, but being you are slightly newer, it may say service brake system as opposed to the light (no experience with any newer than 05, trucks at work are 05 and older, and all the Chevy trucks in the family are 00-05.)

I had same trouble on an older 4x4 GMC and it ended up being several things wrong. They had to replace both front wheel bearing assembly and they came with new sensors. Front wheel bearings had to much end play and can't be rebuild they are sealed units. It also had a drive shaft sensor that is tied into the ABS system and mice had chewed into wires and made it code off an on.

i have an 07 with 63000 miles and replaced both front hubs last year and now have abs light on again,...code reader says it's right hub again...that's prolly what you have also...........JIM

I think you have an ABS fault. You will need to scan for codes. Some vehicles will have the red and the yellow ABS lights both come on for a fault. Also may be low on fluid or the level sensor thinks it is low.Mark

Ground connection on the frame on the left front cab mount horn. Been causing phantom ABS lights since the '99 models debuted. Ground issue will show no codes. Also possible to have water in the EBCM connector. I always clean the ground as my diag starting point on GM truck ABS.

01 chevy 1500 lights them up on most every trip. Believe it began after replacement of right front bearing/hub/sensor assembly. All works fine & I learned to ignore the lights.
