Tire guys-question

My newer F-150 four wheel drive came with wrangler 275/65R18 tires Says max inflation is 44 pounds. I don't haul much. Mainly highway. do I want to run these this full?

Probably not. The foot print should have a even distribution of pressure on the road. Over inflation should be avoided.
Follow the tire pressure recommendations on the door jamb sticker, or owners manual. Under inflation causes wear on the
shoulders of the tire, over causes rough ride and central tread wear. Jim

no you dont have to, as that is max. psi. smoother ride at 35 psi. i never run the max. psi. and when pulling the trailer i boost the rears up.

If it has a tire pressure warning system the tire pressure needs to be real close to what the book or door sticker says.

What is printed on the tire is the maximum load at the maximum inflation pressure that the tire can
handle. However, this doesn't mean at all that this maximum is appropriate for a given vehicle
since the correct inflation pressure must match the load that is being carried. Check the data
plate on edge of the door - it will list what is needed for your truck. I have the same truck with
the same tire size and if I remember right it specifies 35 psi in all tires.

Tire pressures are determined by the manufacturer and are designed to be the best compromise of tire wear, ride quality, and proper handling. That is why the sticker is on the door jamb. Printing on the tire indicates ONLY MAXIMUM pressure.

ALWAYS go by the manufacturer's recommendation. NOT by printing on the tire.
