Twine prices.

Anyone price hay twine for small square balers this year? Last year it was about $60 for a package of 9000# sisal! I may go back to plastic at about $30 for 2 rolls.

I just paid $60 for 9000 sisal at local JD stealership. Parts guy did say the next shipment will be less but didn't have a number, only got one bale, should get me through first cut.

Swap for a wire tie baler. NE Oklahoma is pretty much wire tie territory. I've always had a wire baler and wire is now up to about $75 per roll, so it takes $150 of wire to bale 700 bales. Unless you get it tangled, of course.

But I've always got plenty of wire around to repair things. Use it for gas welding too.

Just don't bale enough to replace a good 347 JD baler to save on tie material.

John Deere dealership asking $55 per bundle of 9000 poly 190 and Kubota dealership getting $44 dollars for similar bundle. Doesn't matter if you buy a pallet or single bundle it's same price. Looking at buying on internet if I can find a better deal but like purchasing locally. I usually buy a year's worth of twine at the end of haying season to be sure I have a least a year supply in case price goes skyhigh or is hard to get. Couple of years ago they sold out during fall haying season but I had my reserve to fall back on.

$49.99 a bale at Fleet Farm. Made the NH 268 baler an even better deal we just picked up when she threw in three bales of twine just to get rid of them. The owner was asking $200 because it had sat 15 years in the shed. No haggling on that price. Tied the bales we tried on it when it gone home even.

Tractor supply is 54 ish and about the only place I can even find it . It's not the best either . Been thinking about poly but can't bring myself to do it . We literaly have no farm supply stores nearby other than tsc . They are either gone or sell lawn and garden.

Last I paid $61 a bundle for 16000 sisal at the local coop. I haven't found it anywhere else. They only had a few bundles so I bought all I needed. for this cutting. I may have to use plastic for the rest of the year.

I went to poly some years back, no regrets.

I run 170/7000 or 170/9600 plastic in my old NH 68. Works great. Only time I occasionally miss a tie is when it goes to a new ball. I prefer Tytan brand.
