Ran out of gas on 4010 mule

Gas guage is under seat. So I have a combo lock which I dial in the hours the last time I filled up. Well I can tell you it can go 20 hours on 5 gallons of gas. Had to walk back to the house to get gas.

On the walk back were any words said that wouldn't be repeated to a preacher? Been there done that screwdriver in old m and cultivator wrench on jd 50 were our gas gauge worked good if you remembered to use them and a few times I didn't.

No, I wasn't mad at her. Just asked when she last checked the hour meter. NEVER. The walk back wasn't that far. I brought gas back in the truck.

I was impressed the mule went 20 hours on 5 gallons.

Just figuring in my head used to do this with the tractor . It's 4 hours to 1 gal if average of 20 miles per hour that's 80 miles to gallon I think some math expert will check my math. That's a heck of a lot better than using the pickup at 20 if I'm lucky.

I drove an old Chev truck to work for years. The fuel gauge did not work. I just carried a gallon of gas in the bed. I would pour most of it into the tank and keep a little to dump in the carb. and away I would go. The "light" gallon would get me home or to town to fill up.

The gauge on my Kubota is under the seat also. I pick the seat up and check it. Had it 5 years now and haven't walked yet. Just sayin.LOL

The thing is the boss put the 20 hours
on mule and she was driving it when it
ran out of gas.

This mule is used around the yard and gravel pit, low speeds only.

Last year I had issues with the computer making the idle speed too rich. All things checked out, no computer codes, nothing. I did a hale marry, made my own air temperature sensor to lean out the mix. Seems to run great and has improved the efficiency. I also switched to 93 octane because computer doesn't have an O2 sensor or an ultrasonic sensor.

Bought those gas cap/fuel gauge combos for both the 4 wheeler and my UTV...otherwise known as an 8N with a carryall on it. Not real accurate, but good enough I haven't hoofed it in a while.

And have had fuel senders go bad twice on different vehicles, now I reset the trip odometer with every fill up.

My Ferris mower has two tanks under the seat and no gauge. I leave the seat up between uses.
