Tranny fluid and hydraulic (4000 Ford )

I have just flushed out the old oil from my 1964 ford
4000 row crop tractor. I have a service Manuel that says to add half and half stuff on and on etc. anyways.... I stop by new holland dealer here in my town they have that master gold brand ( hydraulic and or transmission oil ) ? My question is: would it be better to use a straight 90 W gear lube in the transmission or is the master gold stuff alright to use in both tranny and hydraulic housing areas? I have read some guys on here are using that ATF stuff ?

You want the tractor hydraulic fluid the stuff at new holland is the right stuff there are other aftermarket alternatives that will work to . 90wt is the wrong stuff it's to thick to work properly because the transmission and hydraulic system share the same resivior which is the transmission housing / rear end

There are 3 separate reservoirs on that model.
Transmission, hydraulic and rear end.
Originally Ford called for gear oil in the tranny and tear end and hydraulic fluid in the hydraulics.
CNH now calls for a UTF in all 3 boxes.
Look on the label to make sure it says meets or exceeds Ford 134D specs.
Guys with big 80, 90, 100+ hp tractors have been running generic UTF for 10,12,16+K hours with good results.

So .... I seen castrol has a brand of UTF oil? I guess the brand is not a big deal ? I like the new holland brand master gold transmission and hydraulic fluids I might go with it?

The best oil is kind of like the best tractor or the prettiest girl.
Lots of different opinions.
I think the NH name for their 134D oil is Alambra or something like that. Costs about double what generic costs at Fleet Farm, Tractor Supply or even some rural Wal Marts. It's your $, your tractor so pick the prettiest, er, best and be happy. 134D is also recommended for your power steering by the way.

As the well respected "The Old Hokie" said to me once, just don't get anything that says "303" or "economy" . I take it that stuff is more of a hydraulic only fluid without much in the way of high pressure zinc additives for gears .

AS long as you buy a 134d spec oil, you will do fine. Tractor Supply had their UTF oil on sale for $21 for 5 gallons last week down here. Or you can pay $70 bucks a gallon or more at other places. CNH does not make hydraulic oil, they buy it and have it custom branded.

You guys said to check the oil makes sure that it says 134d the back of the ambra oil says something about 134g ?
