Seed corn plates

So I went and picked up my seed today. The seller and I looked up what plate I need for my IH 56 planter and it says c 18-14. Well as far as I can tell, that number doesn't exist. I looked through all my plates, all my neighbors plates, plus looked all over online and cannot find anything with that number. Does anyone know if this plate crosses to something else?

That's a new one to me. It's been awhile since I've been involved with plates, but doesn't C18 mean it is part way between a C1 and a C2?

Just match up the plate that best fits the seed, with a bit of wiggle room so the seed can freely drop. Ben

Maybe you have found these sites too but I found two Lustran plate guide sites with PDF charts but both of them want a name and email or password so I didn't go into them. Like Centash said you might have to just match a plate to the seed. Make sure the plate is thick enough for the seed. I made that mistake once and matched a plate that had the right cell size but was too thin for the seed. The population ended up uneven when the corn came up.

I went and read the bag again and the next size down I have so I might try that one. Still a few weeks away from planting yet but I want to be ready.

Call Lincoln Ag Products,Evergreen CO.(303)658-0281.Tell them your situation and they can recomend and sell you new plates. I just bought/orderd four new soybean plates yesterday .$20.00 each + shipping.

Might not hurt to check your seed on the plate.I learned the hard way.The reccomended plate was planting doubles one year.
