Alright Deutz guys, I need your help.

Alright Deutz guys, I'm in need of your experience. I recently bought a little Deutz 6250 mfwd as a project. It was parked because it wasn't staying in low gear and would pop out. The previous owner had drained all the hydraulic oil out of it to try to look at the gears behind that plate where the plug is. Needless to say that's all the farther he got and the tractor sat in his machine shed for about 5 years, with no hydraulic oil in it. Before I got too crazy I wanted to put hydraulic oil in it and a battery to see what I was up against. I bought a new battery, filled it up with hydraulic oil, got it running, and I don't have any hydraulics or steering. I cracked the line running out of the little pump on the left side of the engine and didn't have any oil going to the back of the tractor. So basically that's telling me that the little $300 dollar pump on the left side there is probably stuck or no good? Or is there some sort of valve that's on there to shut oil off from going to the pump? I've worked on a lot of green ones... Just the other shade of green so this Deutz stuff is new to me! Anyways thanks guys in advance for your thoughts!

Hi
I dont have books on that tractor but worked on a couple of different models about 16 years ago on those the hydraulic oil was in a tank under the seat, It was really the rock shaft housing for the 3 point on those ones. it didnt come out of the transmission like a Deere, Ford, or many others. Maybe thats your issue it's empty. sometimes the seal goes in the engine pump and it fills the motor over time running. then blows oil out the muffler when it's over full to!.

I'm not sure that something can happen so the oil goes from the tank down into the transmission to, then the hyds quit when it's empty. i saw one guy fill a trans right to the top thinking he had no oil. then when that didn't work he traded it to the NH dealer i worked at after a week owning it and not being happy. we filled the tank and away the hyds went, we fixed a couple of big leaks on the loader and sold it 3 days later.
Hope thats your problem, this tractors beginning to sound expensive already.
Regards Robert

Hello, I will have to give that a look tomorrow. I guess I was under the assumption it was by the shifter-the plug in front of the dipstick. I'm hoping it doesn't get too expensive on me. Luckily I got it bought cheap enough though so it'll be a learning experience and hopefully end up with a decent little front wheel assist tractor for my feeder wagon. Thank you!

Call Little's Farm Supply ( 937) 288-2318 and talk to Donnie. He can tell you exactly what and where to check the hydraulic oil and such. Little's where a Deutz dealer for years and Donnie was the mechanic.

Your hydraulic fill is under the seat at the back of the tractor. Use 14 liters of 20w/20 on the D7007 and D6507. The hydraulic do not share oil with trans or diff. Let us know what you find.

You guys saved the day once again. Gosh those tractors are different, but I'm kinda starting to like them. I was just low on hydraulic oil. Filled it through the little plastic dipstick under the seat and got my hydraulics, steering, and 3 point going. Thank you for all your help!

Hi Glad you fixed that problem easily , you probably won't like the tractor much when you start writing checks on parts for the other issue if it's a big one. I just heard a guy up here in Canada paid $1500 to deutz for a clutch release fork for a 160 type tractor.
I didn't ask how much the other 3 boxes of parts cost for the clutch and pto, I kinda coughed and figured that was time to keep quiet.

Then the guy doing the work showed me the issues with the fwa axle, that they "weren't Fixing this month" I bet thats another $6000 on a big hp tractor you can't sell easy round here due to the bad name they have for issues/ parts prices. If you think JD are proud of their new parts with what they cost you haven't seen anything yet L.O.L.

I don't think the new ones are going so well either, where guys are buying them instead of Valtras after agco messed that up. seems there is reliability issues there to, from what a couple of new owners are saying near here and they aren't happy.
Regards Robert

I am kinda glad they have such a reputation for expensive parts. Where else can you get a 70 hp FWD tractor with westendorf ta-26 for 5k$. Couple of leaks fixed, weld up a couple places on the loader. Change fluids. Now I need a new Alternator (no output), and wire in the sensors that the wires were cut. Now if I was in a production environment this would not work, but for a small 21 acre hobby farm?

Still have my TO-20 which can do just about everything needing done except loader work, albeit slower.

Good luck with the Deutz-Allis 6250. That is the 3 cylinder air cooled correct?

Yes, that is correct. 3 cylinder diesel air cooled. I grew up on
farmall and Deere so this Deutz deal is really new to me. I
bought this little 6250 for $1200 with a Deutz loader. It is a
front wheel assist. It had been sitting in a shed for a few years
so I had to get a new battery, patch up a fuel line, and add
some hydraulic oil-it's running and driving. I bought it with the
understanding that it was popping out of the low side on the
gears once in awhile. This morning I pulled the box blade
around the yard and ran through all the gears and haven't had
it pop out on me yet so I guess we will cross that bridge when
that happens. Thank you for everything and best of luck with
yours!

Mine is a D7007 and has a bad 2nd gear, goes clunk, clunk every revolution. But, I have three ranges, so I just pick the range and gear I need, I don't use 2nd in any range.

The air cooled motors just need the fins clean, there is a plate on the right side of the engine when viewed from the seat, open that up and remove the mouse debris and blow it out. Make sure the oil cooler in there has clear air passages. Make sure the belt is in good condition for the Alternator and fan. That's it. Great running tractors.

Thanks for the tip on that. I was just thinking of going through
mine and taking that plate off to clean it up behind there. It
needs a good cleaning up. One thing I'm pretty excited about,
the fuel efficiency. I've been told by several that they are really
fuel efficient, which I don't see why not beings it's only a 3
cylinder. I have a little 3020 JD and was told this Deutz will do
a lot better than that 3020 on fuel. We will see!

I brush hogged 15 acres of Blackberries and saplings up to 1.5 inches with a 7 foot bush hog all day (8 hours) and used 7 gallons of fuel with the 4 cylinder. bought 10 gallons wondering how much more I had to buy, was left with 3 gallons n the cans. They are thrifty....
