I haven't followed any new regulations regarding ROPS. For years, a ROPS had to be certified by actually testing a ROPS to be sure that it would protect the operator in a rollover. I know people who made their own ROPS that looked good - but it was never tested to be sure that it was safe.
I also knew people who, for certain situations, cut the ROPS apart to remove it and then welded on plates so they could bolt the ROPS back on the unit when the unit went back into regular service. To be legal, that should have been tested and re-certified.
Have you used any ROPS that wasn't original and certified?
