question on front spindle thrust bearings for Fords, Fordson

I am fitting new thrust bearings on the spindles of a Dexta. Should the lower race be a light press fit or very loose on the vertical shaft of the spindle? The old lower race was broken so I don't know how tight it should be. The part number is CONN3123B. I know from forum searches that there apprears to be a common problem with this part. Did someone goof on the lower race i.d.?

I have come across two differing measurements on the shaft lower diameter and mine measures 1.339 inches like on a Ford 600, 800, or 2000. It seems that some of these lower diameters were made at 1.345 inches. Is this true? The bushing is also loose by about .010-.014 inch on the lower part of the shaft.

I can't say with any authority as I don't
know those tractors. On the Fords that
thrust bearing fits loose on the spindle
shaft. It is centered in the housing and not
on the shaft.
