Finally found a couple of corn heads

After searching for about ten years for a model 205 John Deere corn head for a 42 combine I finally found two that can be combined into one good one to restore. One came from a gentleman in Kansas and the other from another gentleman that lives on the Alabama, Tennesee boarder. I will have a little freight in them but managed to have a wonderful week in Branson, Missouri on the way. We took in ten shows, a Legends golf tournament, a fishing tournament, beautiful day on the lake and it was all priceless. I will post some after pictures when we are finished with the project.

Do you have a round back or square back that you're putting one on? I had a round back 42 and a 40.

I never knew there was a corn head for those combines, what a great restoration job, looking forward to seeing the results!

Better plant lite population like 20,000 or less as they and your tractor just cant handle 200 bu corn. That old machine wasnt meant for higher yeilds. 4020 and 12 roll husking bed is at capicity in 200 bu stuff.

Gene, Their is nothing in my entire collection that will ever go back to the field again. They have all done their share of work and from now on they will be only look-at's. We always go for the look of when the John Deere Dealer unloaded it in your yard sixty years ago. Hopefully they will all end up in some museum someday.

John, They will get about the same treatment that the number 12 chopper got a couple of years ago. I will post a picture or two of that and also a finished picture when we get done with this project.

Hi Tom. Did Dan Yeck help you with these? Ive very much admired your equipment at the Gilmore show. Everything looks perfect. Are you going to be bringing much this year?
Ben

Ben,

You are absolutely right about Dan Yeck. He is the one who desevers all the credit along with Henry Delbridge. They are two artist and can work miracles with old iron. I owe each of them a great amount. I personally am not qualified to do the job that these two gentlemen do and all I do is stand back and guard the cash register and I have been told that I even do a poor job of that. We will be at the Gilmore Show this year but I think that we will have a little less on display. Gilmore Museum is such a fantastic facility that I feel very honored and privileged to be part of that show.

LP,

That is correct, the 42 was a pull type combine that was the same as the 40 self-propelled. The model 205 was the only corn head that would fit either of them. Tom
