Any particular brand better than others? The kind that hook over the ears...not the strap around the head. This is for my wife when she helps me with projects.

First I will tell you that I am blind in my right eye, happend in my childhood, Now I will tell you the better they fit the more likely she will always use them. I would suggest take her to a local welding shop and let her pick out the ones she likes best. Just last year I had a pressure gauge blow up in my face (less than 30psi) while checking a gas pipeline pressure it happened so fast that at first I did not know what happened then relized my glasses were knocked off my face they did there job saved my good eye and made me relize while I complained about how much more the prescription saftey glasses were the were well worth the extra cost.

I like the ones I got at the Welding Shop that had a small reading lens on the bottom of the lens. They are like bifocals. Got two pair with a 2.00 reading lens for about 7 bucks a pair. Its the first time I've seen them but I guess they are a common thing and have been around a while.

Be sure they have side shields, if they are not built to the frames you can buy a slip on that works pretty good. Know what I am talking about, worked in a chemical plant 33 years, things come from all different directions!!

Where I work (and Brad from WI as well) they provide them in a vending machine from Fastenal. They've got several different styles according to what the guys like. I prefer the gumball ones. They fit my face better than any other I've tried. They also come in colors like red, blue, green, brown, white, pink, purple, etc...(don't get to pick what the vending machine spits out, but that's ok..)

That's what I've been using the last year and a half, and I like them.

They also have S&W ones, some with bifocal readers, and I think one or 2 other styles just in the machine at work. If you go to a store or online, I'm sure you can find more options.

I'd buy something she is comfortable with. And wear them, I had a grandfather that lost an eye when another guy was running a grinder.
