Hello, I recently purchased a tractor which was suppose to be a 1980 International 475 tractor. After doing some research i noticed that they quit making the 475's in 1977, so if the year is wrong i'm not even sure the guy i bought it from has the model number correct. I need to order a new starter solenoid for it and don't want to order the wrong part, as you know most electronic components are non-refundable. I contacted everyone i could find online with the serial number and not even Case themselves or Tractordata.com could identify it. PLEASE HELP.

SERIAL #: 2310067b005178 -X (not sure if the X is needed or not)

The only thing I can tell you is if it is indeed a 475 ( As opposed to a 474) it will be fitted with a 62hp Perkins 4-212 engine ,( The same engine as was to fitted a MF 165 mk. 2) NOT an IH engine. Curiously enough my neighbour ran a 574 ( 68 hp IH 4-239 engine ) and a 475. He always said that the Perkins engined tractor had far more guts than the 574.

Editing on this site is not working today. Does it look anything like this one? https://photos.yesterdaystractors.com/cgi-bin/gallery/gallery_pic.cgi?pic=http;//photos.yesterdaystractors.com/gallery/tphotos/a34505.jpg&firstrec=0&Parameter=Farmall%20475&w=tphotos&cc=1&s=

the guy i got it from said it was a 1980 475 which they quit making in the states in 77' according to google....so i have no idea

If there is a starter/alternator/generator shop near you, they may be able to match your solenoid. Probably save some money too.

I think it is a 474 rather than a 475 but I'm not an expert. My first job was at an International dealership in 1978 and the 474 had just been replaced with the 484, so yes, it is a 1977 or older.

I get mixed reviews from everyone that see's it, its been called a 474, a 475 and a 574. Peter Easterlund from TractorData said he is fairly certain its a 475 that was built in England from 1974-1977 and probably came to the US from Canada....so now i don't know what it is....lol

Hi, I think Roy has it correct, it is an IH 475 with Perkins Engine.
I didn't think there were outside of UK. The only place I ever saw one was at Newby Hall Antique tractor exhibit.
Met MJ in the UK there.

See attached photos of Perkins engine with CAV/DPA injection pump on left front and the non vertical oil filter.

The starter and alternator are probably Lucas Electric. Alternator can be easily replaced with Delco model. May have problems finding parts for Lucas starter in USA but readily available here in Canada.

Hi David, see 476 thread at: http://www.redpowermagazine.com/forums/topic/63284-rare-tractor-information/page-1

The transmission/rear end should be all the same as other IH 74 series tractors, 454,464,474,574,674.

Jimb2 is right, that looks the same as my 475. Only difference to the 574 is the engine, the fuel pump and the starter.

If I could figure out how to post a pic on here I would show you my sorry old girl!
