Gator coolant system

I have 2 diesel JD Gator. One of them has "T"s in the both the exit and return line for the radiator linking the return and exit line.

Why would this be? How might it affect performance? As it has an idiot light and not a gauge it is hard to tell if it is running warmer or cooler. Should I remove the "T"s and insert straight line?

More than likely had a hot water heater on it at one time and when they removed it they just stuck the lines back together.

I wouldn't remove the Ts until I knew what perpous they serve but I would definatly install guages. You need to know when something causes heat to rise because idiot light on mean's engine is already overheating. It's common knowledge tight tolorances associated with diesel offer's little leway when it come's to overheated.
