8 Ply tires for 8N

Please excuse my ignorance folks.
I am new to tractors. I purchased a 1949 8N for my 5 acres. I have hundreds of full size mesquite trees and tens of thousands of smaller mesquite saplings. The thorns, even on the smallest sapling, shred the 4 ply tires I have. I was going to get some new tires and I was curious if 8 ply would be good or should I go with 12 ply?

Thank in advance for any assistance,
Sean Murphy

I'd maybe look into a small crawler if it is that bad or steel wheels. What are you going to be doing with the tractor? Mowing?

Not tire will hold up well to thorns the only thing that will work in thorns is steel wheels or track

What size are on there now. You might be able to find some 12ply fwa tires. Problem will be mounting them. The rims on those things are made for 4 ply tires. It will take a very experienced tire man to put 12 ply tires on those thin rims without bending them beyond repair. Might be better off with a skid loader and tree saw along with a clam bucket to pile them and then burn the piles.

Had the same problem with the TO35, using it to mow in mesquite thorns.

Had the fronts foam filled. So far, so good. But you want to fill good tires, it's pricey and difficult to deal with if a tire does give up.

i was thinking about steel wheels too, 3 years ago i got in a pasture on a place with the same problem down the valley, i had 11 flat tires in 1 small pasture, [ the owner had cut down russian olive trees the previous year and let the grass grow up over them, he didnt mention the trees when he hired me to do the job], i wished i had some steel wheels for the old jubilee then, do they make steels for a 8n? i know they did for the 9 n but that was a whole different bolt pattern, dont know who mows that pasture today but its not going to be me
