Well I posted last month about a lot of firewood my brother and i came into, maybe 30 cords, locust, red oak and cherry, We have some logs 29 inches in diameter, so my brother did some looking on the interweb and decided to mount his log splitter on his skidsteer, this way he can sit in the cab and place the splitter on the log and split it up, no moving big logs by him or me to the splitter, we got it mounted today, tomorrow we hook up hydrulics for it. Heres our fire wood log pile. Pic probably dosent show how much wood is here, but it was 4 triaxel and trailer loads about 8 cords per load. My brothers shop is prolly a good reference as to how big the pile of logs is.

Man oh man where do you live in NY. I could run up from sj with my big bad Mc Culloch saws and help out! As they used to say in the old movies, Mannnn you boys is crazy! That is a mess of wood.

jay i see alot of fence post in those locust logs.you could probably get good money for them

We don't need money, we want wood heat, I use maybe 15% heating oil, my brother uses none. Our heating expense is very little, just chainsaw gas and bar oil, diesel for tractor and skidsteer, and our labor cutting trees.

Hahaha, good eye that's my brothers, he put air in it and it leaked out in less than 3 minutes, I have the same atv but a red one.

I agree there is lots out there
some better some worse
I was trying for about middle of the road
for a home use it's about all one would need
if it's a bussiness then ya need even more processing speed
but it also is a big cost
a fairly basic unit can cost a lot
but time and manual labour saved is what they are all about

Here is a picture of my processor. Can't take credit for building it as I bought through a tip from my neighbor. It is one good unit.

Jay,You should post this over on the Arborist sight in the firewood and heating forum. Some of those guys will be drooling when they see those pictures!
