Where was Cam Newton?

Down here most of the evening. So much for the match up with the 'old guy'. lol

I was hoping the Panthers would do better. I have more ties to the Carolinas than to Denver.

The older I get, the more I root for the Old Guys. Personally I didn't think
Denver never had a chance. Payton with this new offense hasn't played well at all.
The Bronco's did dominate the defense side of the ball. Von Miller was outstanding
Payton wasn't the factor for the win, the whole team was. I wish him the Best
on what ever he decides to do. The NFL need's more mean Like the Manning's who are not
involved with all the bad things that can happen to NFL players. The had a father Figure
at home their whole life & he was involved in their careers. My Hat is off to Archie Manning.

Cam is a upcoming star, a MVP, he needs to Shore up his Personal Ship be for he can Become
a spokes person for todays youth. He is Young & Hopefully someone can mentor him, a man like
Tony Dungie will do Cam some good.

I got real tired of ESPN beating the drum about Newton being a "new kind" of quarterback. He looked very regular and a bit out of his league against a good defense - like he did against the Falcon's when they decided to take their shot instead of waiting for the Panthers to take theirs.

Manning looked like an old 2nd string QB that came off the bench to play the best he could - hey wait that's exactly what he was at the end of the season. To be honest I think Elway could have subbed in and played as well as Manning did. Denver's defense won that game with more help from Cam Newton than they got from Manning.

(quoted from post at 08:51:26 02/08/16) Also Fig Newton wasn't able to show respect to our National Anthem..............

I am not a big fan of either team, but I am a veteran. During the National Anthem I was watching both QB's. Newton did not put his hand over his heart and Manning did that was when I decided who to root for. If you watched the other player more on the Denver side was more respectful also.

As to the play I feel Von Miller deserved the MVP award. He played very well.

And speaking of the National Anthem, Lady Gaga, for all her pop-culture reputation, absolutely nailed it. She dressed respectfully, and showed us she is an actual grown-up!

I agree it was Denver's defense that beat the Patriots as well not manning. The other thing that bugs me is it 's a team sport not Q.back verses Q.back.

I was apprehensive of what Lady Gaga would do, but she seems to have used shock value to get herself noticed years ago, and is smart enough to be able to entertain and work with society from there. I thought she did well enough, good job.

The field looked really bad, receivers and running backs couldn't get footing, really affected the game. Probably hurt the offensive team and helped the defensive team? Made for a very sloppy game, for being the showcase game...... It was all in all a close and interesting game most of the night but it was so sloppy it didn't seem like the best of the best competing.

Half time show was not good, muffled and dull. I know it is not our type of music for the typical fella on this site, but given that, it was dull, boring, poor sound, blah. Bruno Mars brings some energy to a live show I find him entertaining but he was the shortest part of it, the rest of it was nothing even lots of leg just didnt really do much. For a 50th show it was really badly done. And it is a hurry up, do a lot on a short time, not much substance type of a show, I have low expectations and understand its pacing is going to be odd..... But it was not much.

The commercials were worse. Doritos ultrasound was funny, a couple of the car commercials were average or above, the wiener dogs were. But over all they were disappointing, the good ones seemed average, and it went downhill from there. The Clydesdales were so small it was disappointing and isn't that beer company owned off shore now so their message was kind of a slap in the face. The monkey dog baby thing was interesting but almost a bit creepy, darker than it should have been - rather than cute it made my neck hairs raise a bit..... Mostly the commercials reminded me of the colon that was running up the steps holding its own rear end..... Not good.

I like players that are on the field showing me how good they are with their plays. If they stop playing and try to tell me or others how good they think they are they very quickly lose me and I think they are stuck up idiots no matter their talent level...... Any highly talented qb is probably going to think highly of himself just how that goes, but Cam certainly puts himself on the bad side of that equation and opens himself up for the criticism he gets and deserves for being self centered jerk.

Did I miss anything? :)

Blizzard here since half time last nite, roads closed, got not much else to do but sit here and be critical grumpy old guy. :)

My opinion of him changed too when he failed to go after that loose ball. I was rooting for the old guy anyway so I was glad he just stood there.

I thought she did a good job, too, as a singer. I didn't much care for the arrangement, though. I prefer it more traditional.

After watching the regular season and the playoffs, I expected Carolina to walk away with that game. Didn't care either way, but I was surprised to see how completely Carolina's offense was shut down.

It was a good match up, even with the turnover misgivings, defensively both sides rattled the other side but good. The Manning story is a good one if you ever saw the special on it. Not a fan of the riches and glitz, just the game and good sportsmanship, some of that was lacking with the taunting by one. Even better, the small gathering I attended, seeing old friends and family, more value to that than not.

I turned on the game, caught the last four or so minutes. From everything that I heard going into the game and after the game, one has to wonder if the Ravens took a dive. You know, like the Chicago Black Sox in the 1919 World Series? I'm no football fan and don't really care, but the way that I understood it, the Ravens were supposed to mop the field with the Broncos, but...

I did watch the Capitols beat the Flyers earlier in the day in the world's ONLY sport, cold steel on ice.

I am a die hard Redskins fan :D are anything Joe Gibbs has to do with... I did not pay the Panthers much attention till the end of the season. Folks of color that I have talked to don't like Newton... The Panthers did boost the economy I went to the grocery store Sunday about 1:00 you would have thought a big snow storm was coming

Cam looks like he wants to imitate his east coast hero, one of the Brady bunch. When they lost, he cried a lot. Cam did the same thing after they lost. He will have to search far and wide to find much respect now.
