OT Chevy Trailblazers - opinions?

Anyone have first hand experience with the Chevy Trailblazers? Any issues to watch out for or to inspect for? I've been looking at mid 2000s models and if you can find one without too many miles (under 80k-90K) they don't seem to be to badly priced - especially compared to the Ford Explorers and Chevy Tahoes.

We have a 2004 and its been good with 145,000 on it. The speedometer goes wacky every so often, but it's been reliable. Just brakes and tires. Ron Mn

I have a 2008 and bought it 4 years ago with 62K on it--now have 95K and only repair was alternator developed a loud hum and was replaced

We bought one new in 06 and have been very happy with it. I did have to put in a heater core in 2010 and at 60k some miles probably a fluke, and replaced the ECM last year at 130K some. Both were about 6-700 to fix but those were the only things major done to it. Finally put first set of brakes on at 140k and currently its at 150K. I did put an 02 sensor on it sometime but cant remember when. Size-wize its a mini Tahoe as I am sure you have noticed.

We had a 2004 that had 174,000 miles on it when traded. Had to replace complete dash-gauges and spedometer went wacky, valve cover gasket leaked and shorted out 1 coil, never replaced brakes, still 20% left. We traded it in on a GMC Envoy 2004 with less than 60,000 miles. Very happy with both. My tire man said they are a little hard on tires, and found that to be true, but can put up with that--just a little tradeoff for driving a vehicle we like very much.

we sell more of those than any other SUV. The fords and dodges will sit on the 3--6 weeks longer then the Trail Blazers. Have some problems with the dash cluster, but they are easy to replace.

I'm going to go against the grain here, but we had an 05 that other than having to relace the ignition switch at 25,000 miles was good till 80,000 miles. Then that thing went to pot, every week something else was wrong with it. We traded it in on a ford edge and couldn't be happier. Maybe we got a bad one, but I would never want another one. jstpa

We owned an '04. It was in the shop quite often for various minor things, and then the transmission went out to lunch. It was repaired under warranty, but then the power steering pump broke when it was just out of warranty. I threw a fit. BIG TIME. Traded off that piece of junk while it was still in the shop. Dealer had to eat the repair bill.

Well, we just traded our 08 on a new Traverse and it had 130,000 on it without a nickel's worth of trouble. Loved it, but was time to upgrade.

My cousin has one with 200,000+ miles. He had to do the usual stuff, brakes, balljoints. He did have an issue a couple times with the manifold cracking, said it was more annoying than anything.

Have a 2004 with 225,000 on the clock. Overall it has been a good vehicle. This is what we had trouble with. Emissions air pump 40,000. Speedo, 80,000. Emissions air pump again, 90,000. 4X4 shifter 110,000. Brakes, catalytic converter, tune-up 180,000. Injector 220,000. Tranny let loose a week ago and will be picking it up tomorrow. Want to put about another 60,000 on it and then find some who wants it more than me.
