Tractor wanted to flex it's muscles today

Well I looked out the woodshed window after lunch today and the Case 440 wanted to get some mud on it's tires and the dump trailer wanted to tag along. HeHe. We took a ride up to the sugarbush and checked things out. As you can see, there is no snow in the bush. Temp rose to 43F this afternoon. The Maple syrup season looks doomed for 2016, but perhaps there is hope on the horizon.Temps are supposed to drop steadily all this comming week with a forcast high of 5F next Sat. That will drive some frost into the ground, especially with no snow cover. We have our fingers crossed and hopeing the cold temps and a bit of snow that is forcast will normalize things a bit.
Hope you enjoyed the pic ride. I sure had a good time out with the tractor today.

Dave, The sugar bush covers 60A We used to tap it all and hung 3600 buckets. We now are content with 2500 buckets. That equates to 5-600 gal of syrup in normal years.

Are you going to get any of the snow that is supposed to follow along the east coastline tomorrow?

ACG, We were in Richfield Springs a couple weekends ago when there was still some snow. We were on a mission or I would of give you a holler! The wife and I were looking at the new houses. I did get a couple pics of farms on the way home.

THANK YOU for your great pictures!!!! I envy your ability to finish your "projects". It seems like I start them and then get waylaid by life and they get put on the back burner too often. Your a very skilled man and I enjoy you letting us into your everyday life.

Looks like it may be a little cold yet. I have a question on the bar over the front to your tractor. What's there for? I am thinking of something like that for my mowing tractors. I am always going under low hanging branches. I am surprised I haven't broke my exhaust manifold off. I have been slapped by some nasty branches also. Something like that would put the branches up and over the tractor. Just a thought. Stan

Greg,
The farm with the leg and Harvestors is directly across the road from me. If you looked the other way (north) you would have seen my house and the farm. I'm first house in on the cross road.

JD,
I make it a point to read your posts and replies. You have wisdom and commonsense, and traditional values that seem to be missing in todays world. I admire that.

That is exactly why I built the brush sweeps. It protects the cab and the muffler when I am in the woods. They also help to discuise the sort of boxey look of the cab and pull the overall look of the tractor together.

I build from what I have in my bone pile. My builds just evolve as I go. I guess that I am fortunate that I can envision something and form metal and wood to fulfill my vision.

Never far Loren,

The weather forecast for later this week is for between 0 and -15 for three or four nights, high twenties-low thirty's for day temps. Don't know as the season could get much worse than last year. Of course sugaring is a bit like politics; about the time you think it can't get any worse, it does. Lol!

Enjoy the pictures, thanks. Can you explain that quick-attach looking device you have on the front of your Case? Something you designed or ?

I'm building something similar, but I can't come up with a pin latch design that I like. Can you post a pic of your latch?
