Larry asked me to start green night for him tonight with a picture of the green version of the red one I posted last night.

Forgot my 385 baler and 4400 combine. I also have a FBB drill that I don't have pictures of and an 830 swather that isn't home yet. The baler picture doesn't want to take on this post, I'll try again.

My White American 60,1555 with 1650 gas engine, row crop 77 and my HG. The 1555 is still my favorite and the first new tractor my father purchased.

The closest to green I have. It is a '48 GMC 1 ton with a custom bed to give it that Dually pickup look. The second pic is me at 16 on Dad's farm in North Dakota. Our last harvest. Dad had sold the farm and was retiring and moving to town. combine is a International McCormick 151, truck is '52 GMC 2 ton. That's my long gone connection to the farm.

Randy,

I have brought a few tractors home from MI. but no 70. Green and yellow one above is a true low hour tractor, less than 2500 hr. on original working tach. I have travelled from Manitoba to Bethlehem Pa. to Syracuse Kansas in my Deere hunt over the years.

Lol! had a Can Am bike with 4 1/2 inches of rear shock travel....................all of it bad! (the forks were even worse) Watch any of the old late 60's-early 70's dirt bikes from the rear on rough ground. The guys are standing, using their knees as shock absorbers, and the back end of the bike is jumping around like a turpentined jack rabbit! And just to make things REALLY interesting, every now and then the frame would break at the steering head (the early kwackers were noted for that) Kinda added a little spice to your racing adventures when you were half expecting the front end to fall off coming down from a jump. If it didn't fall off, going from 26 degrees of rake to eighty degrees in a few feet tended to affect the handling qualities somewhat (primarily from bad to uncontrollable).....................Those were the days!

Malcolm Smith, Joel Roberts, Roger DeCoster....................Maico, Zundapp, Bultaco, Ossa, Husky, Penton, Rupp, Hodaka............................Dragging (and slipping)clutches, underpowered motors, points blocks made out of goat cheese, leaky seals on new engines, carbs that were about as sophisticated as a brick with a hole drilled in it,(Amal carbs come to mind here) fenders made out of old Model A tires because the OEM steel originals got ripped off the first week, seats held on with baler twine, it was a rarity to see a bike that DIDN'T have bent bars, 5 speed tranny's with 3 working gears, (or less) wheel bearings so bad the tires were rubbing the frames, ....................... But, by gosh, we had fun! I sure miss those days.

What I like about John Deere is that the company has always been John Deere. Not sold to some conglomerate, no foreign owners.

(quoted from post at 09:09:37 02/08/16) Maico, Zundapp, Bultaco, Ossa, Husky, Penton, Rupp, Hodaka ... I sure miss those days.
Miss those days too. Had a friend who liked Ossas, he had Pioneer and Plonker. I had a few Husqvarnas. Pure pleasure flying through the woods over logs, creeks, etc. Pleasant memories.

Front duals? Wheels lean when cornering, and I didn"t want as much rubber on the ground....while going straight ahead, they do contact the ground, and in soft ground there is excellent contact. There still is a noticeable resistance when cornering. Bottom line...less stress on the driveline. Duals are from an older, small Case combine, cost about $100. I cut and squeezed a dual band to size, and torched holes in the wheel centers to fit the J-Bolts. Didn"t need to dismount the tires since the torch was away from the rim.
