There is a tractor for sale which has a "live" (two stage clutch) PTO. I have tractors with independent PTO's and have driven tractors with transmission driven PTO's (older Fords). Never used a tractor with the two stage clutch. I understand about pushing the clutch pedal down half way to stop the tractor and leave the PTO running and with the pedal down stopping both tractor and PTO.
Now my questions: With the live PTO, when you put the tractor's transmission in reverse, does that also reverse the rotation of the PTO shaft? To be safe with a rotary mower, would you need to use an over running coupler like on the old transmission driven PTO?
