I had turbo rebuilt and replaced the fuel lift pump and now my truck will not start and the tach only reads about 100 rpm when cranking over I also replaced the glow plugs and checked compression which was about 320 psi on all cylinders also new fuel filter with about 20 psi after cranking on the Schrader valve also changed the cam position sensor too. Any thoughts ???

Have you had the cam sensor replaced? It is just above the crank pulley in the front cover. All you need is a 10mm and a flat blade screw driver to replace. They are known to just fail and when they fail it will crank but no fire. Sensor is only 35$ or look at ford to see if the recall was done for it.

The CPS you replaced.....did you put in a "FORD" CPS or an aftermarket? My 96 died and I replaced with one from Oreilly's Frustrated with a no start I took it to Ford dealer and they wanted to do thousands of dollars of repairs so I brought it back home. I finally tried a CPS from Ford and it started like it never had a problem.

If you have a code reader than runs you code. I think what the promblem might be is a High pressure injector pump that might had taken a dive on your truck. That would be a code of P02291 in your shop book. What you should had done when you did the trubo unit you should had replace the pump. It is located under that turbo and the gear that rides it runs off the fly wheel. I had mine on my 2006 6.0 liter fail one time witch at the time was a snap on part that discounted and it had to be replaced but not the pump.Good luck on trying to fix your truck.Brent

did you check connection on valve cover gaskets any sensors that were disconnected also have had high pressure oil pump problem injectors would not open

(quoted from post at 11:21:06 11/30/15) I think what the promblem might be is a High pressure injector pump that might had taken a dive on your truck.

7.3 doesn't have high pressure injection pump. It's got an oil pump for HEUI (Hydraulic Electric Unit Injector) injectors. It uses engine oil and the injector is basically an intensifier with electronic valves to inject at correct time and duration.

White smoke or no? No white smoke would lead me to believe that the HPOP has taken a dive. Replace with a 2001 model 9humped back cover) if you can. First I would suspect one of the repairs...

Do you or a buddy have a scanner that can read data? It would help to check for codes and read data on these problems. If so look at ICP when cranking, its needs approx 400PSI to start. The ICP sensor is known to fail too, a quick and primitive test is to simply unplug the sensor and see if it starts, keep in mind that a code will set.

Pull fuel filter top and look at the fuel and make sure its not blackened from motor oil (leaking injector o-rings do this). If ICP reading is low it's either a bad ICP sensor, HPOP or leaking injector o-rings and the black fuel in bowl would indicate o-rings. A good HPOP can keep up with multiple injector o-ring leaks, most of the time people complain about rough running and oil consumption but a weak HPOP might show up here.

Its not a good thing to use but have you tried starting fluid? If you do try this at least wait for the glow plugs to cycle off.

Or just unplug them at the relay. They stay on long after the wts light goes off. Of all the things that can go wrong with a PSD, the HPOP is seldom if ever on the list.
