never heard of this brand

(quoted from post at 00:09:54 11/29/15) Sounds like somebody that's not to bright and doesn't know how to spell Allis Chalmers.

Don't know if the person in question isn't all that bright or just maybe never got an education. Met a guy when I was stationed in KY who spelled fire "fur". He was pretty bright but never bothered to learn anything in school. Sports and chasing girls had been far more important. He owned a successful tile business. Just couldn't spell and his wife took care of the book work. But he was smart enough to make business decisions and have employees.

But with that ad I'd guess they person in question isn't that bright.

I expect that there are a whole lot of things that I don't know much about, and my spelling or pronunciation of words about it probably make me look like I am not very bright.

It's not at all uncommon to go to swap meets to find hand-made price tags on things like "Cadillac converters" and "radio tires." You do have to wonder whether the sellers ever wonder why things are called what they think they're called.

I think that guy worked for me sometimes when I worked in Wausau. On second thought, it's been quite awhile so maybe his Dad worked for me.

I remember when I was little, I thought a town here in Iowa was Cedar Rabbits! (Cedar Rapids) I thought that sounded a little strange even back then, but kids are accepting of almost anything.

Makes you wonder, I mean I understand
misspelling things cause of how they
sound but when you see it spelled out
on the hood? Although it could be a
grandfather who isn't computer literate
telling his grandson who isn't tractor
literate what to post on Craigslist for
him

Years ago, a young lady reporter put in a magazine about a local FFA tractor show.
Some of the tractors she listed were "Farm All, Allis Chamblers, and my favorite, Cock and Shoot"

Amazing how many ways this name has been mispronounced.
I'm not convinced, like it appears that many of you are, that this is the result of someone with lower than average education.

Would this post even be here if it had been spelled correctly? Consider how many more people have clicked the link here, or were looking at it on CL, and clicked to look at it than would have with the correct spelling. The more people that see your ad the better chance you have of selling your item. To me the misspelling, whether intended or unbeknownst, it's pure genius!

Had a garage sale one time and all the signs said groge sale. My sign stood out from all the rest. You would be surprised how many customers commented on the spelling. They had to come and see if the dumb people having the sale had any good deals. My degree is in Marketing.

Not gonna find many buyers in the
internet age who are searching for
"allis chalmers" parts tho, maybe in
the old printed paper days but nowadays
a misspelled brand like that doesn't
let anyone find you

Kind of like a newscaster one time saying some cows got out...by the name of Black and Gus.......The other newscaster said I think that is supposed to be Black Angus. The first guy looked puzzled like he didn't believe him and said....We will have to check into that.

Local newscaster here was talking about North Korea dictator Kim Jong the Second threatening to destroy the U.S. (Kim Jong Il).

My spelling is pretty bad, and it's embarrassing, but some people can't be embarrassed! I have spellcheck, and if that doesn't help
just Google it. Spellcheck doesn't know about Husqvarna and Jonsered!

lot of us out there that can't spell worth a Darn. doesn't mean we are dumb I started school in Wisc. 1947 they were so smart that they quit did not teach phonetics any more. And you cant member all the words all your life. About like the new math .ps my iq is over 125
