I had big plans today

I had things I wanted to do today, but my wife overruled me. So I ended spending most of the day putting up our Christmas tree, and other decorations. Some of the decorations I have been packing, and unpacking for 40 years now. By the time we got done it was too late in the afternoon to do much more. Growing up Christmas was real simple. Dad bought a tree. Probably less than $5.00. Mom put some lights, and glass balls, and some lead tinsel on the tree.(it's a wonder we are not all dead from that stuff) That was it. Not around here the whole house has something in every corner, and flat spot. I will have to agree it doesn't look too bad. Just glad it's over. Stan
 
After the kids moved away from home, wife bought a fake miniature tree all decorated. Christmas prep is to take the small tree out of the box and put it on a stand somewhere. She also sets out the small stable that I made for the nativity scene and decorating is done. Before New Years, she closes up the stable and puts the tree back in the box and we're done with Christmas.
 
Our boys [ 19 and 17 ] think that if they admit the possibility there might be no Santa, the presents will stop, so they still go along with everything. We love it.
 
My wife decorates for every season and holiday (including Christmas) but for some reason has nothing to do with the tree except complain about how I decorate it. I'm seriously considering leaving it in the box this year.
 
I always make sure I have an IMPORTANT project or place to go when that time comes. Yesterday it was a big Auction.
 
I guess I'm lucky in that my wife doesn't get very excited about decorating. Her and her daughter have some allergies including live Christmas trees. A few years ago my wife gave me a Charlie Brown artificial tree. It stands about 14 inches tall with one branch and one ornament. We've used it e every year since. Set out a few traditional family decorations but 1/2 hour usually takes care of it all.
