I found something to do it is a giant binder of i&t tractor repair manuals! And along with it was a couple of these red books from the 60s way before my time! And in the red book was the ad for this big binder of 58 manuals and a binder of flat rate repair books on different models! So apparently this all came in a set! Would be worth alot if you had to go buy new reprints today thier about 20 dollars a piece I have paid! Now were did I find this set well I work at a garbage company and someone cleaned out a house and just happened that the only guy (me) at my company that is into tractors found it guess I was ment to have somebodys repair books! Funny how things happen!

Sometimes we do get lucky. When the auto-truck dealership where I worked moved to a new facility, they threw away years of factory service manuals. I managed to get several sets for some trucks that I had, and would have gotten more but I had no place to store them.

Like they say, one man's trash is another's treasure.

Glad somebody who could appreciate it found it.

Best "free find" I ever had happened maybe 15 years ago. I used to do a lot of little radio projects for fun, and I was always looking for variable capacitors and various vacuum tubes. They're still available, but not exactly cheap.

I met a guy - totally unrelated to radio stuff - I'm not sure how the subject even came up, but turned out his brother had been into radios, and there was still a big box of :radio parts" in his basement. He was an older guy, his brother had passed away years ago.

When he showed the box to me- I couldn't believe what I was looking at. A huge box full of HUNDREDS of variable capacitors. Small ones, huge ones, and everything in between.

He told me to just take them all, he didn't know what they were and was going to toss them out anyways. I insisted he take some money for them, there was thousands of dollars worth of parts there. But he refused my money over and over. I told him there was way more than I could ever hope to use and I'd probably ebay a lot of them so I'd split the proceeds with him - but he refused even that.

As I was loading that box into my truck - he came out with an even bigger box on hand cart saying "can you use these?" It was filled with hundreds of NOS radio tubes. All sorts of different ones.

It was like finding buried treasure.

I had intended to get some payback to him somehow, but unfortunately he passed away later that year. But at least I know it made him happy to make somebody else happy with his brother's collection.
