John Deere 510 Backhoe issue

I just brought home a JD 510 Backhoe. It runs and works great but the first 4 speeds going foward slip but 5-8 work great. Reverse gears work as they should. ??

I have a 500 here doing the same thing,, the guy just bought it,, I haven't told him that the C3 clutch is out yet,,same as yours,,it is in the big pack under the platform,,a lot of work to get to it,,a double split...it may be able to rebuild, reman's are out there..I will post a schematic of the shift pattern in a bit..

There are 3 functions engaged each time a speed is used you will see on the chart which functions are used each time, C3 clutch is used in the first 4 forward speeds, and it gets the biggest work out..

Tim has got it right. Your looking at a major repair bill unless you can do the work yourself. I would bet that is why the prior owner sold the backhoe.
