Is that homemade? I run my splitter vertical for big chunks, I just split some 25 inch diameter red oak.

It does, they don't have much of a long stroke though, but it sure does look just like one. I like the hatchet scabbard, even painted to match, definitely a must have near the splitter, more so for fresh cut elm or similar.
 
Brother has a "sideways" splitter, mount on the Bobcat.....you can split a lot of wood while sitting in the seat.
 
I would want the splitter sticking syraight back with one end having the 3 point mounts.

I would get tired of digging wood out between the tire and splitter.

Same way with that upright splitter. Why not have it facing back where yo would have more room to work instead of sideways.

I agree! Also make baskets to catch the resplits so you don't have to bend over and pick them up again;the baskets can fit on both sides with a longways splitter. I even made a handle to operate the 3 pt from the rear on mine.Mark
