Seen on Road

Sorry about the picture quality but saw this old car and thought some of you might know what it was.

Pre 1916 Model T with the flat top fenders. Looks like a Southern T that has a 60 inch tread as opposed to the 56 inch T that the north used. I think 1915 was the last year for the wide Southern T.
Southern wagons were 60 inch and you needed to drive in the wagon ruts. Ford made the South conform to the north in 1916.

1914 Model T Ford.

In 1915 the Model T went to rounded rear fenders, but still had the flat top front fenders.

The cross leaf rear spring identifies it as a Model T. Or, "semi-elliptical transverse" as Ford referred to their springs on both the T and A.

My Grandfather's first car was a brand new 1914 Model T Ford. I have a picture of it with Wis 1914 license plates. My father took the picture. Everyone else was loading into the car to go into town. They had the top down although they were wearing jackets and coats. Potato crates in the picture so it would have been fall.

Lot of 60" wagons here in the north as well as some 56" wagons. 60" took a 42" wide bed, 56" only took a 38" wide bed.
