Sliding door insulation project

I remember a while back someone had mentioned about sealing up a sliding door on a building. Ive been working on insulating the slide door on my shop. Have the bottom and top yet to do. Have it insulated with foam board, (inside the metal rails as well), 2 1/2" thick and lined with plastic wall panels for the finish. Going to use some garage door seals on the top and finish the side edges with foam tape or a garage door bottom seal. Still working on that. Kind of a "figure it out along the way what works best thing" lol.

I bought a piece of that black foamy pipe insulation, and split one side lengthways, and slid it on the bottom of my garage door, to seal the bottom ,when it closes. I used some clear silly cone, to stick it on with. If it ever sticks to the concrete, it might pull off. Have to wait and see.

I thought about using some of that as well next to the door and the angle iron on the concrete, even if temporary until warmer weather.

I had my wife sew a 4" sock the length of my sliders and stuff them with batting (old nylons will also work). I just lay it along the bottom of the door (on inside) and lean a few pieces of 1x6 against it to hold it in place. It works really well and is easy to work around.

That?s probably the nicest, tightest sliding door I?ve seen. Could you post more info on the construction if you built it yourself? I?m just putting up a new shop. It?s a drive through with an OH door on one end and sliders on the other. Sliding door will be 14ft high by 16ft with a pair of 8-9ft doors. Will probably build them myself, and they will have to be insulated here. I?m thinking about putting some cannon ball track horizontally in the doors about 1/3 ? ? way up, and have the trolleys through the wall with springs/adjusters so I can keep the doors pulled in tight to the building. Hope I can get them as tight as yours.

Thank you. The door is one made by the company that I bought the building from. It is a metal frame, no wood on it, has about 12' 6" height clearance with 13' 6" wide for opening. They have to replace the top frame rail on it as it is bowed some because they drilled the holes too far towards the center, that is why there is some gap on the top towards the sides yet and why I have that left to do lol. Being they have a guide on the lower left side for the door I might be making a track going from one side to the other that allows clearance for it when I open the door and still be able to attach the insulation and paneling to it. I plan on using some of the garage door vinyl "board" trim with rubber on it for the top seal with the rubber facing the door. Being you will have two sliders you can maybe use some of the hard rubber garage door seal on the sides of the outside of the door. It has an angle to it so it can be used two different ways. That is what I might be using on mine. I was thinking about making an opener for it but I don't open it that much.

Anything more you want to know, just ask. I will help if I can.....you know where to find me lol.
