Im looking at buying what is a gleaner f combine it was last ran 2 years ago and hasn't ran since and has been sitting outside it looks decent the grain tank has no holes and the engine is free and still has the old gas in it I know this is hard without pictures but would 800 be a fair price he has a grain table that's a little rough for it and a 2 row corn head I haven't seen the corn head but what would be a fair price for the bunch? thanks

Not much demand for those and since it does not have a diesel that could be transplanted into a tractor scrap would be a fair basis. Not a bad combine but the F2 and F3 were big improvements.

2 row corn head does not fit an F combine.

I've heard of a 3 row wide, and row narrow or wide 4 is by far the most common.

Is it a K or E or A model with the 2 row, or is it a wider corn head?

Is it a straight F model, or is it an F2?

I've seen gas model f sell for $600 with 2 heads at auction, so you are in the ball park depending in condition.

I'm with the others, there is no way a 2row corn head would work on a F. Biggest Gleaner for a 2 row would be a K. If the combine is a F, the 2row head must be for another model.

Can you get pictures to post so we can have a look?

Not sure what language I was trying to use there, sorry for the bad morning edit....

3 row wide heads were out there, tho rare.

4 row narrow or wide headers were the overwhelming common size.

When they got to the longer shoe F2 and F3 they did make a 6 row narrow, but they are rare and a bit too much for this size combine in modern corn yields.

If it is a 2 row head, it was not made for an F series. The combine is too wide to fit through 2 rows.

There are a few on CL here in the $2500 range. $800 would have my checkbook out of my pocket in a hurry even with no corn head at all. They're a good old machine.

Get it running and operating first. If it won't run, and/or there are other major issues with it, $800 is too much; its a parts machine. If it runs and operates satisfactorily, then maybe the owner would ask a bit more, but at least you will know it works.

Used parts/tires/heads are plentiful and cheap; a 2 row will not fit but does share some parts with similar vitage larger cornheads. Decent conbine, but remember they were designed when corn yields were much less than they are now, so don't expect to set any records, but rather enjoy the simplicity of the machine

There are a lot of older small combines at a low price. I was tempted to buy one myself but a combine is of no value without a grain truck (s). A usable grain truck will cost more than an older combine and is a continual money pit. Prices look about right. There was one hear me in perfect shape with a Chevrolet 292 six I could have bought after being outside two years fir $1,500 but later sold for scrap

We just about gave an old F and an E away as they would not sell even for just about scrap price. Both had platforms and the E had a 3 row cornhead.

I wish I could find a cheap Gleaner. There was a K on a sale over by St Johns a year ago, brought $8000. A few F's on CL are priced at around $2500. There's a K on there,I think they're asking $7700. They just aren't showing up on auctions around here anymore.
