I have a small lawn probably 40 x 40 ft with a large tree in the center, Not a lot of grass. It had a lot of weeds in the grass. I have some stuff called weed and feed. It kills the broad leaf plants. I grabbed the bag, and spread it around like I was feeding chickens. Some of it clumped up as it fell. Every place there was a clump is now a brown spot. it looks like every dog in the neighborhood took a p on my grass. It did kill the weeds though. Is there any ting I can do to the brown spots? or just leave them be, and wait for the water to wash the dirt out? Ever see someone do that to their crop, and kill everything? Stan

a few years back my dad went to the local coop and told them he wanted something to kill dandelions in his lawn. they gave him some stuff and said mix "x" amount in water and spray. they did NOT tell him to spot spray and he ended up spraying his entire lawn with roundup. we reseeded the next spring. in your case it's the salts that create issues.
I've had places like that I had to replace some dirt, other places the snow took the salts out and we reseeded.

Probably the fertilizer part burned the grass. If so it will come back and be the greenest stuff in your yard.

air chance it will kill your tree, too.

I was always told "If all else fails....read the instructions."
I am sorry about your lawn, mine is white as we speak from the 10" of snow received Friday.
I am terrible about reading directions.

I put weed and feed around some trees by mistake a few years ago, when I got done I read the instructions! It did not seem to hurt the trees, they are probably just covering their but.

Last spring 240 acres of corn not far from me was killed by the wrong herbicide. It was replanted to beans and looked like the beans did OK. Sometimes the pre plant herbicide used for corn will kill replant beans. In that case the field grows nothing for the year.

A few years ago, my brother-in-law sprayed his grape vines with a pesticide, or so he thought. After the vines began to die he checked and then realized that he had used an herbicide.

About five years ago a close neighbor had a whole farm of corn killed with the wrong spray. He had planted Liberty corn and told the COOP he had planted Roundup corn. He had a real good weed kill. LOL He was lucky in that the corn was pretty small when it was sprayed. He replanted an still had a pretty good crop.

Driving through the city years ago noticed on a front lawn some one had used round-up or something similar I am guessing in a weed sprayer to write in 2 foot letters what they thought of the homeowner.

Much better to have to think up lies about what happened to your lawn than to get your man card pulled for reading instructions.

Going to take time to weather away the chemical.

What did you use, brand name exactly or the active ingredients on the label?

Some last a lot longer than others.

I'd think you could start replanting in late spring to get something to regrow.
