TV gun shows

A year or two ago there was several gun shows on TV. That Red Jacket one, one in Colorado, and one in Alaska. We aren't getting them anymore here at least with the package we have from Verizon. Wondering if you folks are still getting them or if external_link has put the hurt on gun shows on TV. Also I used to enjoy Pumpkin Chunckin on TV on Thanksgiving evening, that isn't on anymore and my girlfriend says she looked it up on the internet and they can't get insurance anymore. What's with that, that show was on for a while and not no more, did external_link lean on the insurance cos. to crush the show? I wouldn't put any of this past him but am I just being paranoid?

What do you guys think, Tom

Red jacket got pulled because of criminal issues with the owner. I don't know about the Colorado one and never saw the Alaska one.

Too bad about pumpkin chunking. That was always a blast to watch and seemed well organized and safety was key.

This year history channel had back to back pumpkin chunking from 2014 back several years. Neat machines and fun to watch good family show. joe

I just checked the schedule and it's showing on Friday 'Punkin Chunking: Super Chunk!' from 8-10 and 11-1am as a repeat from 2014 on the Science Channel.

Then a new show Saturday night 'Punkin Chunking All-stars' 8-9 and 11 to midnight also on the Science Channel.

Hope this helps.

Red jacket got pulled because the guybwas a pedophile whobwas abusing his daughter. The other ones never were put back on because of the "guns are bad" crowd pushing their agenda.

Your right, guns are only gloried in the media by way of movies, etc, where they are used to increase the action. Thye are also used to guard those that don't think you and I should own them. Outside that, guns are EVIL and anything that makes them seem normal, or whatever, is simply not proper........

I don't know what happened to the Alaska gun show, but it appears to have been replaced with half a dozen more shows about people in the state, just not in a gun shop.

Son's of Guns, the one about Red Jacket was officially nixed when the owner was charged with multiple counts of being a pedophile. Before that, there were problems with the ATF over missing guns. Since the show was canceled, a couple of the ex employees have started their own businesses, and are doing pretty good. On the other hand, Wills daughter, and her hsband, Chris, have both had their share of legal issues as well. See the link below with more details.

I'm not 100% sure why the other show, American Guns was canceled but it stopped airing in 2012, following Sandy Hook....when guns were really beginning to be turned evil by the media. After the cancelation, I also remember seeing somewhere that the owner of that shop had some criminal issues as well. I think it stemmed from a break in that brought some things to light, followed by a run in with the IRS. Too, there was an issue with a stolen gun that someone attempted to sell them in one episode. Check the link below for a more detailed explanation.
American Guns

Sons of Guns

I watched sons of guns a bit. Didn't like the other one, the guy came off as arrogant, at least to me.

I think it was one from Colorado . The son had gone to engraving school and did a real nice job engraving. He was pretty good.

Thanks for the responses, I know a little more now. Possibly it is the politically correct crowd responsible at least a little. I can't wait till we get rid of external_link, I just hope it isn't nnalert, we are done it she gets in. There will be no guns, freedom or USA.

So then it is not all external_link's fault like the 1st. man thinks ?? I can't believe there any crooks in that industry, Do you ? Do you think any of them are Rep's ?? LOL

Punkin Chunkin was cancelled the last two years because a volunteer worker wiped out on a quad and sued the organizers. Now they can't get liability insurance. They have also had trouble finding a venue, it has been relocated several times, then cancelled. It's played hell with the pumpkin farmers in the area, lots of surplus two years running. I liked the Alaska gun show, "Wild West Guns" was the name of the shop. The owner's name was West.

Don't you hate that?

We had a great local event - the "Yegatta Regatta" - on the Chenango River. People would build rafts and get sponsors and spend the day floating 10 miles downstream, and all proceeds went to the American Red Cross. It was like Mardi Gras and some teams made incredible rafts

One year a guy got drunked up and fell off the back of a raft and drown. The family sued the American Red Cross for more money than this guy would have earned in 20 lifetimes. So no regatta no more after a dozen years of great times.

As far as the gun shows. I'm an avid shooter and hunter but I absolutely cannot stand to watch shows where the host whispers inane commentary non-stop. I miss the Curt Gowdy shows where he would over-narrate the hunt.

I remember watching Ben Pearson and Fred Bear bowhunting videos in school gym class! Boy, those days are gone.
