OT-computer buying on shopping networks

Looking to buy new computer & was wondering if anyone bought one from the shopping networks & their experience?

I've never been to any of those shopping networks. Probably never will. The best computer deals are the factory refurbished units from Dell financial, on ebay.

I bought a new Lenovo laptop on Amazon a year ago. Was able to order exactly what I wanted, Windows 7 Pro, matte screen instead of slick screen to eliminate glare, etc. Price was comparable to stores and it came with just the basics installed, not a whole lot of junk you'll never use like most of them are. I got to install just the programs I want and don't have it cluttered up with a lot of useless stuff.

I checked with Best Buy, Office Depot, etc. ahead of time and the salesmen all assured me they would have the matte screen. I said, "Show me one". Then it was, "Well, um, let's see---", I guess we can't, but we can sell you a glare shield. They run about $30".

I wouldn't hesitate to order a computer from Amazon again. In fact, when Windows 10 gets settle down I may order a new desktop.

Computer whiz at our school system recommended New Egg DOT com ... but I haven't tried it. He also recommended Lenovo.

About 20 years ago we bought one from QVC. It was about a year behind the state of the art when we bought it. I've had good luck with Dell for my PCs. Be wary of operating system "upgrades" never seen one of them go smoothly.

Any I've looked up from the shopping channels are overpriced for what you get, plus unnecessary extras. I assemble my own desktops, but I've ordered and helped order many Dells through the years, they aren't terrible. I'd suggest going to Slickdeals.net and search for what you're looking for (desktop, laptop). Lots of deals the next few days. Pay with a credit card, many/most double the warranty up to a year for free on most items. Dell Outlet -sometimes- has deals with a coupon, same as new warranty. Also free antivirus is good enough if you know what you're doing, but a few name brand pay versions are free after rebate. Decent printer deals upcoming too, etc.

Newegg isn't as good as it was, but OK sometimes. I generally prefer Amazon.

Lenovo bought IBM's laptop division some time ago. Thinkpad models were decent quality back in the day. They are an "OK" brand.
