dash lights in C65 Chevy

Moved the truck tonight and was reminded that the dash lights are out. Haven't used it after dark yet (usually use it in the summer and daylength is not an issue) and need it next week.
Any tips on changing the dash lights?
Thanks

Shure lite switch knob hasn't been turned or just bad spot in rheostat part of switch. Usually dash lites out have no tail lites. On same fuse.

Don't remember what year yours is... But the older ones, the instrument panel was held in by a few screws, just tip it forward enough to reach behind and remove the lamp holders. May have to unclip the speedometer cable to get enough slack, and be careful not to kink the oil pressure line.

The instrument lamps are on a separate fuse, and that fuse is fed from the tail light circuit, so no dash lights was an indication of no tail lights. Also the dash lights are dimmable through turning the head light switch. Sometimes the rheostat gets dirty, turning it a few times may get them working.

Also see if your taillights work they are hooked together and try turning the light switch to turn the dome light on.

If its only the dash lights and you only need a quick fix to drive it one time.
Grab one of those free LED lights from Harbor Freight and duct tape facing the dash.

Something similar is what I did last time. Have to haul a load of grain a fair distance this time.
Thanks all to for the help. Should tear into it this evening or tomorrow.

My 58 did that. The rheostat that controls the dash lights also does the dome light. It had bad spots on it. I just piggybacked the dash light loop onto one of the other hot lines coming off the back. They are on full blast but they turn off with the switch.

Checked it this evening and sure enough the tail lights are out too. From what I could tell laying under the dash with a flashlight all the fuses were good though? You mentioned that the fuse for the dashpanel was a separate fuse. Is it located somewhere other than the fuse panel?

Don't have any lights but the headlights (Turn signals/brake lights OK).
Assuming its a fuse problem, rheostat advice sounds reasonable and good too.
Tried to look at the fuses this evening with a flashlight. Appeared that they were all good though?? Is the fuse for the dash in the main fuse panel?

You may know this but you need a test light to check those fuses. Test on the actual spring tangs that the fuse clips in---power to both sides of fuse then you have eliminated the fuses and their connections from the equation. Sometimes the fuse may not be blown but has lost continuity from the fuse element to the metallic end cap.
