06 F350 Key Fob

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the code for a key fob?

Trying to help a friend secure his property. He's going through a nasty divorce, future ex has a set of keys for his truck along with the key fob. I'm replacing the ignition and door cylinders tomorrow, need to know if there is a way to disable the fob she has so she can't get into the truck.

I know how to program a new fob to the truck, but need to disable the old one.

Is this something I can do? The dealer? Is it even possible? Any ideas?

Go to the dealer immediately, and they will have the answer. Too often, people stand around wringing their hands and wondering what to do, while the nefarious act they feared gets accomplished. I would also disable the engine, just to be on the safe side.

I'm thinking the dealer must have a way. When they take a trade in or do a repo, they couldn't have active fob's out running loose!

He called the dealer and tried to ask, but couldn't get past the receptionist, who was going to ask service and have them call back, never happened.

In order to disable that key fob from working with that truck, you can have it re-flashed at the dealer. You may have to buy a new keyless entry module.

The security system on that should consist of a PATS module, a RAP module, and a keyless entry module. In addition, it will have a transceiver module at the key entry point. The PCM (powertrain control module - or computer if you prefer) has to be flashed to recognize and communicate with all of those modules.

PATS is Passive Anti-Theft System
RAP is Remote Access Personality
Keyless Entry is as the name implies.

cant stop her from opening the doors but can reprogram so only the new keys will not trip the "immobilizer" and kill the engine. Dealer can do that. Newer trucks allow owner to add or delete keys only if he has the two "Master Keys". Otherwise the dealer has to do it. You can even set the top speed on a "my Key", radio volume, seatbelts must be worn, etc on the new fords again, as long as you have the two "master keys". That way when the "kid" is using the truck with a my key, he cant turn radio up, drive with no seat belts, or go over set speed. The radio will not even turn on till all the seat belts are fasten.

Go talk to a really good lock smith. They have the device that plugs into your vehicle and might be able to do that. The key fob can be defeated. Go buy a new one at auto zone or such and sitting in the truck, turn the key on and off about 5 or 6 times. The locks go up and down. Then hit lock unlock on the new fob. All of the others will not work now. The ignition is a bit more cause you have a 80 bit code key and if you got a key it will work. Go find that lock smith cause the fix is in the computer not a key. Need some reprograming. Good luck. By the way, you better hope he didn't give here the master door code entry numbers and she had the one for the owner. That one can be changed and the master cannot.

I might have missed it but if you program a new or reprogram the existing key fob or fobs then the one not present (her's) gets erased. If he ever gets that fob back then it can be programmed back to the vehicle. Every time you want to program fobs (new or old), then all fobs need to be present and programmed individually or the ones that are not present get erased.

If it has the keyless entry pad on the door, I hope she doesn't have the factory code, a programmed code can easily be changed as often as you like but the factory code is permanent unless you change the module.

That year of truck did not have PATS or "chip key", so there is no programming there. If she has a key then she can gain entry and start vehicle.
