Apparently I carried the camera around with me for a month and never took it out and photographed the house, so until I do, here is a picture of the barn foundation on the property. This was three years ago when I tried to buy it the first time. You can only just see the house roof in the background. What you can see is most of the foundation walls for the smaller barn on the property. If I get the story correct, the large barn burned and took the Holsteins with it. They are buried in the yard there someplace. This is the smaller barn, milk house, and silo. The first owner was a Finn and wanted to rebuild the barn. He strongly resented our buying "his" farm and refused to sell the place to me at any price I was willing to pay. I made the mistake of admiring the silo so he tore it down shortly after the picture was taken. The milk house in the picture contains one of the finest wood-burning saunas you ever saw. First rate workmanship, I'll give the miserable bugger that much. Owner number two came along and bought it. They had no interest in the barn foundation and spent three years tearing it down. They had no interest in the sauna either but somehow it survived them. They were talking about tearing out the barn footings when I decided I had had enough of their nonsense and started some subtle pressure to persuade them to move on. So I ended up buying it. Along with the house and sauna/milk house there are two beat up slabs where a 60x30 small barn and a 30x15 shed used to be. The shed had no other foundation than the slab but the barn has a solid poured concrete footing and could be rebuilt. There is also a good deep footing where the silo used to be, 14' in diameter. I will probably work on replacing some of that when I get the time. I'll scare up some house pics somewhere...it's a nice little place.
