Now THAT made me feel old.........

Our daughter told my wife and I last night that when she got her hair cut several days ago, her hairdresser found a few gray hairs in one area.

I wasn't ready for that, she's only 39.

My youngest daughter turned 43 in September, she has been complaining about gray hairs for several years. I tell her to just be happy that she still has all her hair and not like myself with just a little halo around the sides. LOL

A few wild gray hairs is nothing. A High School buddy of mine had his hair go from a Sandy Brown to SNOW WHITE when he was just 16 years old, and it's been that way ever since.

In other words your hair didn't turn gray it turned loose. Of my two brothers one did one one did the other.

My barber says there are 3 styles of hair: parted, unparted, and departed. So far, mine is unparted. I am 66 but had a gray patch since I was 13 years old. One uncle had jet black hair going into the military in WW2 and was assigned to a tank crew. When he came home, he had snow white hair. He died at 94 yrs and still had a full head of hair.

Years ago I had an uncle, bald as a cue ball. We have a picture of a family gathering with him without his cap, which he wore all the time outdoors. The top of his head was white, there was a clear demarcation, on down he was very suntanned, two toned head.

Out of the fifteen kids in Marilyn's family only one got white hair early. The rest didn't start showing color change till they were in their fifties. I started turning gray when I was 21. My sis, at 66 doesn't have a gray hair yet. Go figure!

My moms first cousin was a career marine non com. Enlisted during ww II, injured at Iwo Jima, served in Korea turn white headed overnight in Vietnam. Had just a few years to go for 30 and out, didn't re-enlist

My wife started coloring her hair when she was 20 because of a gray patch. You'd never know except when she waits too long before coloring. Probably be surprised how many younger women have gray that's been colored over.

My barber charges me more because he has to work around the bald spot{top}.lol

I always tell him not to take any off the top.lol

I often wondered how I'd turn out. My father had a full head of hair, although totally gray, when he died at age 86. On the flip side, my mother had several brothers who were bald as cue balls by the time they were 30. Now, at age 80, my hair has been gray for years but probably 3/4 of it is still there.

I take after my dad, my hair has been this color since I was 40 (which was 22 years ago).

I started to go grey when I was in my 20's. Been a long slow process. Sorry that wouldn't make me feel old.

In fact the other day my oldest son, on the rebound from a bad problem with his wife (she spent several months in a mental institution and now lives alone) was saying that he needed to buy an egg timer because his daughters wanted soft boiled eggs (he has custody). I looked at him and ask why, you have a timer on your smart phone! My youngest son was there too and told his brother "how does it feel to be out teched by a 60 year old man?". So I feel pretty young!

As the roots of the hair grow they turn gray if they find gray matter or fall out if none. Several years ago, I purchased a fishing license in Wisc. Guy asked, eyes, blue, hair I kind of hesitated, he says, that would be gray. On the other hand, I always had a dark black spot of hair in the back of my head. One day, IG inspection in the Army, Officer says, this man has grease in his hair, platoon Sgt say, no sir, just black hair. Later in life I realized I no longer had that black spot and have no idea when it disappeared.

I must have almost the same gene pool, Dad passed away at 90 still had a full head of hair and still quite a little black to it, Mom's Dad was bald as a cue ball forever. I lost some hair in my early 20's, my wife figured I'd be bald by 30, and then that quit. Like you I still have around 75% and it's just beginning to turn grey and I'm 56.

I started graying in my mid 20s. I am 69 and still have hair and almost totally gray. But at least I still have hair most of friends are bald.
