I waited for 2 weeks before posting this question on here but todays tone of posts gave me the impression that it might be okay. I have been searching online for days for a product to glue pieces of vinyl siding over small holes on my vinyl sided rental house. It has a number of nickel/quarter size divots from rocks when mowing, etc. I've tried PVC glue for pipes and Gorilla Glue. Neither one seems to work. Have any of you folks fixed a house this way? What did you use? Would fiberglass resin do it? Thanks, gm

Did you try silicone caulk?, just wondering as I have some hail damaged spot I was going to patch over. I hadthought I would use silicone, now I will wait for responses to your question. gobble

Small holes can be plugged with caulk. If there are holes too big to plug, then just replace the damaged pieces of siding. It's not that expensive or difficult; you have to get a siding tool like this:
Siding Removal Tool

I have used silicone caulk on small holes, but,it fades to a different color shade and is noticeable.Looks kinda dirty where the silicone is,but the silicone seems to hold up ok. Mark

I will second just replacing a section of siding. When it is warm the siding is pretty easy to get unlocked. Then just remove the nails with a pair of nail knippers and your good to replaced the section.

Look at the varied "Goop" products. They make one to repair sneakers, the one I use most often for many repairs is "Plumbers Goop".

Just take another piece a foot or so long, cut off the top leaving enough to tuck under the old, snap it over the old and put a pop rivet or two up under the bottom edge to hold it in place. You now have double the protection for the next rock.

Gary Mitchell- After you find a fix, have your renters mow in the opposite direction around the house. That way they won't be debris from the mower into the siding.

I also go around my units and spray Round-up at the foundation. I kill everything within 1 foot of base of home. That way weed-wackers can't be near the siding to do any damage.
