white exhaust

Hi, I forget who was posting about his tractor running with white exhaust a few days back. There were some suggestions as to what was causing it.
I am curious about what he found. Anyone know? Ed will

Ed,

I don't know if you are referring to a couple of posts that I put up on the Ford board. I have an old (1962-1964) Ford 4000 diesel that I am wrestling with. My immediate problem was/is that I can't get more than 1500 RPM out of the engine. Coincident with that, is that I have an excessive amount of bluish/white smoke coming out of the exhaust pipe.

I've checked and rechecked a bunch of things, but the problem(s) still exist. I'm still working on it, but I'm about at the end of my expertise and I'm thinking about having it hauled to a real mechanic to fix it.

I'll keep posting until it's resolved one way or another.

Had 172 powerunit done same thing took pump to pump shop. Had water go thru it messed up head. Had extra engine took pump off if and fixed problem.

Damp,

I'm a very old man but this is the first diesel engine I've ever owned. I have ordered a shop manual for the tractor from this site. I hope it will help me do some better diagnosis.

Thanks for your information.
