This makes you wonder

I got a call from a neighbor last night that she saw a piglet on the blacktop a mile south. I quick ran to the sheds and counted - all here. I called her back and she said it looked just like mine.

I'm the only producer in the 10 mile area - although I'm pretty sure it's the county. In these few sections I know everyone. No one around here raises any cause they all buy from me. Especially this time of year! I got to worrying it was the start of feral hogs but she said it looked like a Hamp. I told her to shoot it if she sees it because it will be a feral sooner rather than later.

Now I'm worrying about feral hogs. How close are they to Ottawa/Lawrence Ks?

they have already been officially reported and confirmed by DNR in southern IOWA so its probable they are in KS

Same way around here if it's a jersey on the prowl everybody assumed it was mine. Turns out neighbor's have a few but mine are the most visible.

Somebody called me a few weeks ago and asked if I had a longhorn cow and a calf missing. Said one just ran behind their house. I couldn't for the life of me think who might have one. About 20 minutes later, the guy who lives right across the road from him drove in and said if I ended up with an extra cow and calf,it was his. He said he just bought a longhorn and a calf and they got out. I don't know what in the world he wanted with them,he'd have been the last person I'd have thought about having one,but that was where they belonged.

I think Kansas Wildlife and Parks shot a bunch of feral pigs within the past year or two in the park at Clinton Lake, so they've been not far from you.

Are these wild pigs worth eating? Anyone who would drag a deer home to eat aught to be able to make good use of a pig.

While I'm sure that, at times, some pigs are involved I don't think that is exactly what they are talking about.

Couple of years ago a neighbor across the street called me and asked me if I had cattle. Took me a few seconds to get what she was asking. This house is only on a couple acres and is the last place where I would keep any cattle if I had them. So thinking she wanted beef I told her I could give her some names. She said, NO...there is a cow standing in my back yard! Looked out the window and, sure enough, there was an Angus of sorts across the street. My oldest daughter worked with the herd up at MSU so she and I tried to move it into our fenced yard. It took off like a deer...no luck. A couple days later I was working in the garage and heard a odd noise and two honest to God cowboys on horseback raced up my road at a gallop wearing full western style chaps, hats, the works. I thought maybe I was losing my mind, as I had also been seeing random cattle in twos and threes wandering in the neighborhood. Turns out it was a fella to the north about a quarter mile. He had brought in a group and a few got away from him. He hired the guys on the horses to chase them thru the woods. Also turns out the owner is a forum member here. I'll let him finish the story if he cares to own it...

(quoted from post at 08:42:53 11/20/15) You're talking about a $6k rig. $1500 for the AR and $4500 for the thermal imaging night scope.

for 4500 i can buys lots of offroad lights for my pickup or a really bright flashlight lol

Excellent. Just don't bother with boars over 60ish lbs. unless you want to cut and feed them a few weeks. No AR required. 30-30 works fine... In East Texas we get them all the time, cook with it 3+ days a
week.

Yep, that trusty ol' 30-30 will do the job, for sure.
Down here on the south end of the state, I-35 / Oklahoma line we are starting to see more movement from here on east.
While my .223 / .556 AR's will kill a hog, I am partial to my LR 308. I have been working with a 6mm RAT a little, and find it to be excelent on droping coyotes at longer ranges, and I'm sure that it will take a hog without much trouble.

We don't have any wild hogs around here, yet. I'd have a choice between a 6.5x52 Carcono, or a 7.65 Mauser. I'm sure they would do a hog in.

Years ago the wife and I were going to work one morning, about half daylight, looked up ahead and four cows walked out in the road. I made a panic stop, but one cows head bumped the side of the car and put a little dent in it. I stopped at the first house I came to and told the man what had happened, he swore that he didn't know anyone in the neighborhood that owned any cows!
