Some months ago I posted a wanted ad looking for a particular brand/ model/ series of old pickup truck with the intentions that my son and I may have a project. I stated in the ad "any condition, please call...". Its been so long with no response at all, I kind of forgot about it. This AM I got a call "Are you still looking? I have one of that model/ series that's was Gramps". Yes I am. He says What year do you want? I said at this stage year doesn't matter as long as its that model/series, I was just starting my search to see what I can find in that model for my son and I to restore. "Oh, ok what year do you want?" I said, "I don't care any one of that series". He says "Yah but what year do you want?" I said I don't care, they made that for three years I'd take any one of them since I have none right now and am looking for a starting project truck. He starts in telling me about what models they made and when (some of which sounded incorrect) but I'm certainly no expert. So he says Yah but what year do you want? I tell him again that I really don't care what year of that model as long as its that series/model that I'm just starting my search and what does he have. Then get flustered and says I'll call back this PM. He didn't call. Am I missing something?

Seems if he couldn't state "I have a 19XX truck, grampy owned it" then it was some kind of scam.

OR

It's some guy looking for a friend to dream about the truck they'd want.

You never know. I had a nice gentleman from this forum call me about a lathe I have on Craigslist. He didnt need the lathe, but I enjoyed talking to him.

I had a call once about a tractor I had on Craigslist. It was an older gentleman that asked several questions about the tractor, then just chatted for quite a while and said he wanted to come look at it. He called back later and again kept me on the phone for about an hour, and said he was coming to see it. He didn't show and when another person showed interest I tried calling him back but it wasn't his number. I found out after asking some questions that he was an older fella in an old folks home. I think he was just wanting someone to talk to for a while, and not meaning any harm.

What ever you wanted he had one, just send money and he would ship for free. No checks just cash cards from Walmart.

Buying or selling is one of many ways we find just how many different drummers people are marching to. I believe it is attributed in large to differences in geograpical cultures. Not only different countries but simply 4 or 5 hundered miles down the road can make alot of difference in people. Interestingly, when I run accross someone I went to school with or grew up in the same coumunity with but havn't seen in decades, our logic is generally very similar. Nowhere is this better demonstrated than putting a Bible Belt born and raised individual under leadership of an island born, other than christian raised,East Coast educated individual with Chicago values. They may as well be from different planets when it come's to common sense and values.

He wanted to find it and resell it to you. -He didn't have anything... Knew a guy that did that... -sells people things and then goes and buys it for less...

You state that the truck was only built for three years. You should have just gave him those three years. He may not have known much about the truck he had, but maybe did know what year it was, maybe.

If he wasn't too far from you it might have been worth a look-see. You never know, he may have had other things laying around he would part with. I like going to older peoples farms and spend the afternoon. Even if I don't buy anything it's interesting to talk to these people.

I get calls on my tractors every day.

what year is it? how does it run? does it have a title? How much does it cost?

And thats after I put all the info in the ad, show multiple pictures, even the hour meter, tires, all 4 sides and totally describe the tractor, and all of its options, features and condition.

and I put a disclaimer in there that "You can ONLY buy this tractor in person". I even say "Call only for appointment to see and drive this tractor". And "Everything I know about this tractor is in the ad." "NO Shipping", NO CHecks.

my dad an brother are so scared to buy anything they fix everything so scared that if they bought your tractors they would have
to fix everything from engine to transmission to tires i would buy your tractors an not have any trouble

I try to answer any possible question a sane person could ask about what I am selling in the ad. On the IHC Metro Mite ice cream truck I have now on Ebay one guy asked if it runs. I told him that in the ad right after the part where I said that I started it is a link to the video of it running. Some people just will not read the ad.

ounds to me like you just wanted to "jaw" as much as you think that he did. Why on earth didn't you just tell him the 3 year models of interest and stop the "jawing"??!!
