Lost a GREAT actress, Maureen O'Hara

I loved her movies with her flaming red hair and spunky personality. She was one Hollywood person I would have loved to have met personally. It was her personality for me. She seemed to be a very upbeat person. I liked her movies with John Wayne. They made a good balance in the movie they did.

It shows our age when the people we grew up watching or reading about pass away. There are not many left of the ones I grew up with. It seems that darn few of the younger ones hold much interest for me. They just do not seem to have the "depth" that those I grew up with did.

So may the man up stairs welcome another LADY to his side.

I think mother and father patterned their relationship on the movie McClintock, except instead of being exceptionally wealthy we were exceptionally poor :)

I've been a loyal fan of John Wayne and well remember McClintock. I especially like his later films such as The Cowboys and The Shootist.

Remember the scene when John Wayne kicked the bedroom door open and said to O'Hara, "There'll be no locks or bolts between us, Mary Kate... except those in your own mercenary little heart!

She was indeed a beautiful, gifted woman.

Yup,when I heard,I got out McClintock and Quiet Man.One DVD and one VHS.Wish I had Rio Grand too which is my favorite of the Cavalry ones!

I remember, (six o:clock news), seeing her testify before congress in the successful bid to have the "Congressional Gold Medal" awarded to John Wayne. She was eloquent, emotional, and I believe not acting in the least. This post spurred me to read, watch, and remember much of this wonderful lady, a rare one. gm

I dearly loved both of them !! My favorite movie of JW was "Tall in the saddle". I bet I've watched that at least 25 times! M.O'Hara was "so in love" with him!! But she'd never marry him because she'd have to give up her religion(Catholic)and being from Ireland that would never happen!! We just don't find good acting any more like we used too....Jim in N.M.

She was a lady, something that can't be said for many women these days. She had a horrible first marriage to a bum. Being a staunch Catholic she wouldn't divorce him. When he passed on she eventually married a guy who could have been a role model for most of John Waynes characters and lived happily ever after. God bless her and keep her.
